Opinion Recruiting and List Management Team: Hamish Ogilvie, Justin Reid & Co

Not saying Hamish made the call, but there are claims he has watched Danger a fair bit and was a fan. Obviously Rendell made the final call.

Opinion Recruiting and List Management Team: Hamish Ogilvie, Justin Reid & Co

Hamish is no Messiah, in fact far from it when comes to recruitment. He's best used as a spotter assigned to watch people play footy and report back. His thing is exposed junior form. Hes not suited to being a head recruiter who needs to actually predict how these kids will turn out However...

This is absolutely the time to be playing Nank and Cook and give them a block of games. Everyone makes mistakes. You only get better from learning from these mistakes and no, it's nothing like playing in the SANFL. Whilst not empowering our most talented players to go our there and learn from...

2nds 2024 Adelaide Crows SANFL thread

In the most simple terms, there is a system and there are players. The trick is to try and align both in the best possible way. Sure you have the chicken and egg thing, but great coaches just make this work and seem to find the system and roles that allows the player to flourish. Nicks is...

Roast The Rotten Stench of the AFC

Everything starts at the board level. Let's do a quick comparison: John Olsen (Chairman), Linda Fellows (Deputy Chair), Mark Ricciuto, Richard Fennell, Kate Ellis, Stephen Roche, Shanti Berggren, Imelda Lynch and Graeme Goodings. There's only 1 member with an actual footballing...

I don't know how anyone can objectively look at the body of evidence and say we've recruited well.

Opinion Recruiting and List Management Team: Hamish Ogilvie, Justin Reid & Co

It hilarious listening to the Hamish supporters who want to claim every speck of success but have an excuse for every single failure. You can't have it both ways. Any objective observer can see how poorly he's performed and the results don't lie. As a professional recruiter you have to...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

My issue with Nicks is he just doesn't seem to be a good learner. He's been taught so many great lessons, but he sees them as anomalies always looking to drift back to what he knows and believes. All the changes that work continue to be the last resort and he's immediately looking to change...

    Player Watch Sam Berry

McHenry has played a number of very impressive sub games but has clearly found the challenge of a full game difficult. Berry faces similar challenges. Although it was a great quarter by of football by Berry, he still has a long way to do and a lot more to prove to show her has turned the...

    Review Good vs Carlton

I liked his run which we were desperately missing. That half back line needs players with the confidence to run at the defence. Smith doesn't do this anymore. Adding Hamil alomgside Nank and cook we've created a lot more run and flair in that back line. Throw Hinge in there with confidence...

    Player Watch Sam Berry

Most impressive thing about the goal is he got the ball, looked up, realised he had some time, didn't blast away and took his time to make sure he executed. He left little to chance. He needs to teach McHendry this. Edit: upon watching the replay you can see he got a sighter a few...

    Preview Changes V Bombers

Laird should be moved to predominantly half back and he needs to see this as a great opportunity. Our half back line lacks intelligent sweepers at the moment. Hinge can do this when playing well, but we need more. Be the player that gets the ball in tight situations and clears it out to start...

    Review Good vs Carlton

I hope so too, but Adelaide cannot afford to be training up a coach like this at this point in its journey. If he doesn't show this conviction and improvement in the next few games and we see the reactionary safety first tactics and selection, then I want him gone.

    Review Good vs Carlton

I think Nicks doesn't have genuine belief in what he says still. Ive said before that he comes across as someone who's still imitating and repeating what he's heard others say. He hasn't quite discovered his own voice and as result doesn't really have the belief or conviction to see things...

    Review Good vs Carlton

Agree but I'd go as far as not even pairing him with Dawson. Keep Dawson and Crouch in seperate midfield rotations. But not importantly coaches need to be much more flexibile in terms of midfield setup and rotations. Understand who the opposition are and setup accordingly. Horses for courses...

    Review Good vs Carlton

Not sure about all of this, but I agree he played at times like a person that has been demoted. He needs to get over that and rediscover his new role and embrace this. I did see him at half back at times during the match so I'm guessing this rotation is part of the new role. He took one...

    Review Good vs Carlton

Completely agree. They would have trained all pre-seasom with this more dynamic midfield of Rankine, Soligo and Rachele then come season proper the coaches resort to boring sideways crab midfield. The (younger) players would be going wtf!? Not only is that not what was being trained but they...

    Player Watch Darcy Fogarty

We 100 percent persist. Clearly a confidence player and as others have mentioned and definitely more so I'm the previous week's, not only do we look for Tex 90 percent of the time, but the kicks coming in to him have been atrocious. Again this is more so I'm the previous week's, but the amount...

    Review Good vs Carlton

This is what my issue with the coaching panel is. The necessary changes feel forced and are a last resort. This game showcased all the changes we have been calling for, and how we can play if structured up differently. More importantly it showed again that midfield is where you win games...

I'd accept that, do your research and roll the dice. We'd be paying slightly less than if we tried to lure them when they are "proven" and wed actually stand a chance of getting them. Instead we'll continually miss out and have the mediocre list we have now.
