It’s jarring hearing the commentator say Modra’s kicked his seventh, I think he kicked 10 in this game. The game has obviously changed a lot since then but Modra would kick those sorts of hauls so regularly that it was easy to take it for granted. I know I was too young to really understand the...
Why would any Crows fan talk about Neil Craig like that? He was to us in 1997 and 1998 what Darren Burgess was to Melbourne this year. He then went on to coach us (very well) for a number of years. And in between where he was an Assistant Coach. His contribution to the club should never be...
It’s the warrior mentality. Give everything you have, don’t give up, fight to the very end. It’s what you separates the greats from people like you and me. Well, also that other thing called talent. 😄
He didn't say that. The interviewers did but Reid didn't deny or acknowledge the particulars of the offer. However, he did seem to admit we tried and also seemingly left the door open for further attempts however unlikely it may be.
To me it seems to exist currently to allow uncontracted players to get to the club of their choice under the guise of equalisation. If that’s the real intention why not just let players move freely? If its purpose truly is fair equalisation one draft is sufficient, forcing clubs to rank and...
It highlights the ridiculousness of the Pre Season Draft. It exists so therefore teams should be exploiting it as much as possible without guilt. Yet everyone seems to acknowledge it is not fair which is why teams don't use it or at least pretend to use it only as a last resort. Just get rid of...
I’d like it to happen. It would give Coach Nicks the security to continue to to build properly and not be tempted to make short term decisions. I acknowledge the risk but we should know by now what we’re getting from him so if we think he’s the man to continue the rebuild then let him see it...
With the list he had one premiership is the absolute minimum he should have so I’m not sure how highly he should be graded on that. He got the job done I suppose but could easily have had two or three with that list. The difference in quality between Brisbane and Port was negligible I reckon...
Yeah obviously he has plenty of strengths and Paul Roos among others must have seen the potential but I still think the best coaches have a presence and an intensity that isn’t apparent with Goodwin.
The paps did very well that year but I’m optimistic we’ll look back at the 2020 draft as similarly defining for us. Our crop hasn’t jumped out of the blocks as quickly as their 2018 haul did but you can see the talent is there (with respect to Rowe I’m talking about those taken before him).
As a legend of our club I love Simon Goodwin. Yet even I cannot understand how his players manage to be motivated when he speaks. He seems like one of the least inspiring speakers ever.
Maybe Western are a better side than the paps but let's not pretend the difference in quality between the teams is anywhere near 70 points. Whether they choked under the pressure and expectation of the occasion, or it was some other reason altogether, they definitely performed well below their best.
Yep, most young teams on the rise usually have a breakout season followed by a couple of steps backward before finally becoming contenders. We are a few years from contending finals regularly. I'm okay with a couple more lean years if it means we can accumulate enough talent in that time to then...
Tasmania will just be a soft target for all the Victorian teams to poach good players. It’ll struggle to retain players more than any other team in the league.
It’s going to be fascinating to watch what happens to Geelong in the near future. I think their decline is going to be spectacular and long lasting. I might be wrong.
