I never knew this fact!
It is obviously well known that the Pies have a poor record in grand finals - 15 wins, 27 losses & 2 draws (36% win rate excluding draws)
However in 11 of the 42 years they played in grand finals they came from outside the top 2 - and as you stated they didn't win any...
Cuts like that can definitely happen from studs, i have seen it before (although not quite that long). It is a perfect mix of high velocity and hitting at the right (or wrong) angle.
I am sure Wicks didnt know he was wearing 'illegal' boots and I am sure plenty of other players have worn them...
That phase doesn't mean what you think it means....
Whilst I think the tigers will win tonight,it is interesting to see how confident the tigers supporters are in this thread considering last year's PF performance against a team which were even bigger outsiders than the cats are
For me it was definitely the 2011 Coll v Haw prelim. The last 6 or 7 minutes were electric with great moments from both sides.
The 'Collingwood' chant in the 2010 prelim v Geelong was another time when the sound made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.
Home and Away, the pies played...
Exactly. It is likely that all Beams has said to Brisbane is that if there is the possibility of getting him back to the Pies he would appreciate it, otherwise he is happy at the Lions.
As usual the media and BigFooty insiders have taken the essence of the facts and made the rest up along the...
I am feeling the same way. As a pies fan I love the idea of getting beams back as he is a great player, however it does feel a little wrong if he forces the lions into a corner after all they have done for him.
Saying that, I dont think people should be abusing the guy, his actions seem quite...
If they are going to do this, they should make it that the selected player is paid considerably more than the pro-rata rookie wage. With most state players working full time plus gaining a wage from footy, it wouldn't make financial sense for most to give that up (and possibly move state) for 13...
As I was walking down the level 4 stairs after the siren on Saturday, there was one WCE supporter who was abusing Collingwood fans as they were leaving rather than sing their team song. I just don't get the mentality of people who seem to enjoy the misery of others rather than enjoy their...
Such a weird feeling, given the team and injuries we had all year, we really had no right to make the grand final.
On top of that we were pretty much out played for 3 quarters of the game and very lucky to still be in it at the end.
But time is linear and to have all that fall our way and...
I agree but it is one which has been used.
Another issue with removing the pre finals bye is that teams will be more willing to rest players in rd23 again.
If it replaces the pre-finals bye then it has some merit. However some people have just been complaining that Richmond only playing 1 week out of 3 hurt them in the prelim. If introduced would this just push that excuse to the grand final?
Absolutely! That is a major one that I forgot in my euphoria last night. They were extremely lucky with minimal injuries and it makes a huge difference
My personal belief is that outwardly we should be gracious towards the tigers, they are a very good side who will no doubt be thereabouts next year (especially with Lynch), however given the carry on from some of their supporters, this threat is a good place to let off a bit of steam.
If we...
After hearing all of the crap from tigers supporters all year I think I will use this thread to vent and stick the boots in and keep my level headed views for public
Can we now agree that the injuries the pies had in the last two contests played a part in the result
Can we now agree that...
Disappointing result, we just couldn't maintain momentum in the last quarter. You have to play nearly perfect to beat the eagles and umps out west and we didnt do that.
As an aside, a few people on here should be embarrassed tomorrow morning when the re read their posts abusing players and...
Called in every favor I had to get a ticket to the first 2010 GF. It was obviously the most nervous I have ever been at a game but the crowd atmosphere was better in prelims. It was obvious in the GF there was a higher percentage of neutral corporates at the game.
Couldnt get tickets for the...
Syd to Melb is about a quarter the distance than Perth to Melb plus they have a 4hr head start.
I just dont get why the two games arent swapped, well I do know (TV) but I dont think it's a justifiable reason. Every other year the qualifying final is played before the corresponding elimination...
How hard would it have been to have Eagles v Pies on Saturday afternoon? That's fair but the AFL dont care about fair.
And of course we get so many advantages over any other team in the AFL. How dare we get more games in Melbourne than Melbourne teams who sell their games interstate....
I am pissed with the fixturing. Surely the draw should favour the higher finishing team at all times. In week 2 the winner of Swans/GWS will have a longer break than the loser of WCE/Collingwood. On top of that, if they pies lose, their break is also shortened by the fact they have to fly across...
I am definitely in the incompetence rather than conspiracy camp. Every team has been horribly screwed over by the umps at one time or another - Collingwood v Melbourne last year comes to mind for me.
Hawks definitely got a harsh run last night, but I wouldnt feel so bad when it actually looked...
If Melbourne win today it is possible that all four finals in round 1 will be in Melbourne with MCG tenants. It is unlikely but would be interesting to see
I havent been this angry after a loss in a while. I understand injuries have taken a huge toll but after half time the pies showed no intensity, no effort for 40min. It's like they saw Moore in his tracksuit and gave up. We were lucky that the swans really are an average side who only have one...
Classic bicep enhancing stance from Nathan!
In all seriousness, good luck to the bloke, he deserves a decent run at it
From a Collingwood perspective the 2013 draft was depressing. Had 2 top 10 picks and selected two very talented players (Scharenberg and Freeman), but both of them have had...
One of the best impact players ever.
People call him overrated because he wasn't a high possession player(and because of Bruce's fawning) but he didn't need a lot of the ball to completely dominate a game.
If I remember correctly, didn't he fail to get a single possession in his first two or three games? Would have been an optimistic person to predict he would make it to 300 games after that start!
He does just about everything well, good skills, makes good decisions and puts his body on the line...
Being on level 4 at the ground, it was clear that carlton set themselves up not to get blown out rather than trying to win. They nearly always had 2 spare players on the defensive side of the ball which definitely impacted Collingwood's ability to effectively move forward. It also meant they had...
I am not saying it was a bad or good decision just describing what I saw as the main reason for the poor flow of the game. After last week's debacle I am sure Bolton would prefer this result although carlton were never a threat with this setup
