Scout notes from Joel Western's major U18 games before draft (AFL Draft Central). He had a pretty good month of football
WAFL Colts Finals week 1 22nd of September
IN WEEK one of the Simply Energy WAFL Colts Finals Series, Claremont defeated Subiaco by 15 points to advance through to the Grand...
The move to get 29 off brissy for 35 and 46 was great. shows how highly they rated NOD. 35, 46 and a future 3rd to end up with the pick that got him. That to me says they saw him as about #20 on their draft board or at least as significantly better than what they expected to be available at pick 35.
It was probably NOD at 27 (costing 30 and a future 3rd) or we would have got Carrol at 30 as we must have thought Hawks or crow would have swooped. It also acted as risk mitigation in case of an early bid on walker.
i reckon we thought we could get in before WCE but they then traded up in front of us. Maybe we thought Garcia would get through to us but when he was gone we didn't rate what was left.
So to trade our future first do we need a future 4th and 3rd back?
Adelaide or Brissy may be interested in a 2020 1st for an early and late 2nd round but prob not if they also need to give up 2 future picks aswell :-/
Yeah I was nervous until Adelaide locked in the pick. Then i was happy because we got to choose from Young and one of Serong or Flanders. Now we just need to get the first pick in the second round for Devon.
Something about Gould just says 200 hard tough pure footballing games. He has the Gov/Harry Talyor's about him. That old fashioned country footballer.......
If GWS trade their future 1st to move up to 3 or 4 then what do they use to match a bid on green. 40 ain't enough points and they have no future 1st to cover deficit???
Also if Melb are looking at Pickett, then its because they are considering a trade down from pick 8 that would get them late...
Popped past on friday and was a bit surprised the sloping bank that does have some trees planted on it, was unmowed and full of weeds. If only they knew a 7 foot lawn mowing contractor........
The sandy area's do need to be sorted. Could be 10 years before anything is build there.
Footy wise...
Would GWS trade 6 for a swap of future 1st rounders and 2nd rounders picks and 22. Our future 1st would be a much better bargaining chip and they can trade in post bid.
So essentially their 6, 18, 37 (3219 points) for our 6, 22, 26 (3325 points)based on this years finishing positions....
we...
Realistically what is the best pick we could get by trading:
- A) our future 1st and a future 2nd?
- B) our two future 2nds?
I would have thought that no one in the 2nd teir of the draft will give them up but would make swap into teir 3 only if they got 2 picks from that group. IMO i think 22...
Maybe this is why Melb got pick 8...........
I like the 6 for 10 swap with GWS idea:
Heres how it could happen if we have 5 picks........
We swap 22/58 for max points in 2 picks (e.g 31 and 33 from bombers enough points to match a bid a Carlton no.8 (no.9 after Green bid)
We get 6 and GWS...
We will hang onto 22 until we get past our pick #10 then it will be traded for maximum most points for Henry. As soon as he is bid on I'm sure we will be nagging every club that picks afterwards to let us back into the draft. I imagine there would be a deal with someone like the crows to swap 22...
I think the idea is to take 3 underachieving young players to hopefully get 2 solid role players to play wing/flanks. Not sure what pick 50+ would be like to cover the wing roles in 2020.
What are these three players tanks like? Hilly and langdon certainly covered some km's this year. Would be...
Would 22 for Aish, 35 and 56 be a reasonable outcome. Only 100 less points for henry. Can swap a future 3rd for extra points points too if required. More points for a premium pick would be ideal though.
I would do 12, 18 future 1st for 22, b.hill and a future 2nd.
We can then use our 5 1st rounders to position ourselves in both drafts.
Even 18 has a lot of value to other clubs.
I wouldn't be against 10, 18 for hill but i cant see a way of saints getting 10 if they still have 18.
Can only see them getting all there targets by trading there future 1st for one of our future 2nds/ 22
12, future 1st for Hill, 22 /Melbournes future 2nd
Or Maybe 12, 18, future 2nd for Hill...
Geez dees really didn't rate frost. Pick 46 equiv. With most points in future (less value).
Out speedy KPD with bad disposal for ~46 (9th in BnF)
In speedy winger with bad disposal for ~26
(5th in BnF)
Yeah it is a serious problem. They are serious about getting it sauteed and now the cloves are off. This is going to spice up our management.
Funny how none of the journo's had a sauce on this appointment.....
We effectively got a top 17 pick for him if Melb win a spoon. 35 if they win the cup. So an avg of about pick 26. We got hill for 23 while he had a contract i think.
The difference in value varies for the same talent based on:
contract
genuine reasons to want a trade (personal reasons)
Salary...
