In community footy your proposal would work until teams refuse to move up divisions. The league has no spine and has never enforced the transition up from 4s to 3s when it was clear a team should go up on paper.
The 2 team clubs (now mostly 3 teams with the women's community teams too) also...
If there could be one single thing, it would be the removal of BT from any association with TV broadcasting forever. Unprofessional, biased, racist, throwback to the bits of the past we're better off without. What a colossal ego and waste of space and oxygen.
I do wish people would remember these details when there is whinging about GWS & GC.
That is the exact reason that the AFL can afford to prop them up.
Their value to the AFL's media rights deals, providing second games to the lucrative Sydney & Brisbane TV markets, far outweighs the dollars...
Was great to see them out there again mate, the old boys loved it and they gave a lot of confidence to the players around them, especially when Heater ragdolled someone in the first few minutes 😂 made the game a lot more competitive than it otherwise would have been, even if it was still a comfy...
Massive injury list. Just in the 3s and 4s I think both teams failed to have a fit player on the bench in 3 of the first 4 rounds. Never seen the likes of it all so concentrated in one patch. Think between injuries and unavailability the squad had 23 unavailable for selection against ANU...
Yeah, they dropped out of the 18s this year. Not great numbers and most of them were bottom-agers.
At this stage they think they'll be right for Rising Stars again next year, but it absolutely must be a worry. How many of the boys who went to other clubs for Rising Stars this year (instead of...
You could well be right, but no one on this forum seems to have seen any evidence of it.
Doubt anyone is going to change their minds without something more than general accusations. Name clubs, name names, give us something.
Unlucky for the demons, but it's a good result for local Canberra footy. As John Love said, the local comp was at its peak before the NEAFL, or at it's very start when all Canberra sides had a team in it.
The question is, will AFL Canberra continue on its trend towards having the standard be...
I'm still yet to see anyone excusing his behaviour, just people trying to understand what might have driven the appalling acts beyond just "he was a thug".
My understanding is that ANU made the call not to travel down because the league ovals on the other side of the change rooms (not the AFL one) were set up as the pop-up COVID testing facility. The game wasn't cancelled by AFL Canberra, it was ANU's decision. Therefore forfeit. No idea whether...
I would assume so Willy. Most, if not all 4th grade games last year required the clubs to supply their own umpires, though occasionally the league would supply some goal umpires.
That's pretty sad if it's the case. My understanding, from the last meeting I went to at the end of last season, was that despite one particularly vocal 3 team club, most of those involved in Div 3 & 4 were open to the re-inclusion of the regional teams if this meant that they were more likely...
Most Eagles supporters wouldn't say that they "hate" Freo. They're the unsuccessful younger brother. So theirs rivalry and you don't want to get beaten by them, but mostly they're just sad and pitiful. Definitely some hatred/resentment going the other way though about the perceived favouritism...
There's a big difference between supporters being happy seeing their team win the flag and the insufferable nature of some supporter/poster bases who then decide that their team is the best thing since sliced bread, can do no wrong, absolutely must state this on every main board post and decry...
You'd assume so? I mean, I guess they could drop players from last weeks 2s and promote players from the Regional to the 2s semi-final, but there's nothing in the list of Regional players from that semi that suggests those players will go up. I guess if they rested players in the final round of...
Interesting one about the Cummings & Armstrong stuff. As you say, how did the league know that? And then also,, how was this not all sorted out prior to game day??? I know when we've had qualifying queries/possible issues (plenty in the past with seniors in finals already etc), we've made sure...
I had a quick look at the lists on SportsTG just then, doesn't seem anything too outrageous from a qualifying perspective? 3 players on the list that had only played 3 games of Regional, but 2 of those hadn't played anything else at all this season. One had played 5 games in 2s, so I guess you...
I believe the League's preference was to have all GF games (Mens Div 3 & 4, Womens Div 2, Regional Mens & Regional Womens) on the same day at Footy Park, but none of the clubs could agree on the time slots.
Which I Read As: Everyone kicked up a stink about playing the late slots under lights...
Provided they meet the qualification requirements, and both Belconnen's 1s and 2s are in the seniors finals, as many as they want. Think the qualification is at least 4 games in that grade or below, unless the teams above are in still in, in which case it is at least 4 games for the club. If the...
Unfortunately you're right. All but one of the 3 team clubs voted for the model that split the Regional's out, citing the need to limit the splitting of volunteer resources (managers/trainers/runners/umpires/water boys) and the desire for some "reward" for their efforts to have 3 teams. They...
As part of discussions around the community football structure in the pre-season, the idea of a regional vs city/div 3 rep game was floated. The league was apparently interested for the future, but didn't think they could run it this year for whatever reason.
4s players should miss out under...
You've misunderstood the question/text box then. I did it on Tuesday. Here is the cut & paste quote:
"What will you do?
So what are you going to do to become the change you want to see around you? What commitment will you make?
Will you expect respect?
Will you speak out against what doesn't...
That'll please a few people...
I'll await confirmation on the Easter weekend when they issue the draw I suppose. ADFA will probably have played 3 games by then.
