Player Watch #33: Latrelle Pickett – Pick 12

I wish he would hold more of his chest marks, but man, that kick to JVR in the last... :handok:

    Player Watch #4: Harvey Langford – 27 & 3 against the two-time reigning premiers

Really reminded me of the Bont today. Not fast, obviously, but a smooth mover who just always seemed to be able to buy himself enough time and space to use it well. Fantastic game.

Review Dees v Qld - the good bad and fugly

We were 1-12 in our last 13 games decided by a goal or less under Goodwin. Just more evidence of how much this team has turned around under King.

We could easily be 10th tomorrow night 😀

Or rise to 3rd. I know what we would do the last few years.

MFC Fans Only Non-Demons AFL Discussion – 2026

"Clayton Oliver, Lauchie Ash, Finn Callaghan - they've had 45 kicks inside 50 [for] 1 mark." I'll always be grateful to Clarrie for what he achieved at this club, but Jesus Christ it's a relief not to have to watch his rushed, helicopter dump-kicks into the forward 50 every week. Edit: Also...

I think the idea that you win premierships by stocking up on early draft-picks by "bottoming-out" has been pretty much discredited over the past decade. Arguably, we're pretty much the only team that seem to have managed it during that time. I'd argue that nailing later picks, developing the...

Review Dees v the Carlton Cheats: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Someone's gonna have to help me out with some of these. From left to right: Back row: Howe, Watts, McKenzie, ???, Dunstan?, ???, Tomlinson, ???, Trengove, Frost?, Hibberd, Hore, ???, ???, Weid? Front row: Tapscott?, Harmes, Matt Jones???, Spargo, Hunt? A couple of them I assume are just...

Review Dees v the Carlton Cheats: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Just as an aside, pay attention to Cripps' effort in that contest. The kick was meant for him, but when it became apparent it was going to be cut off, he just gave up on the contest and stood by watching as Pickett put it through. The next centre bounce, Sparrow just casually strolls through the...

Stats now say 16 tackles for the match. Equals the all-time club record in his third game. 😍

    Player Watch #32: Tom Sparrow

Career-high disposals and clearances today. I've always had hope for him because he seems to have most of the requisite tools to be a good player, but I was never quite clear on what his role in the team was supposed to be. I think with Petracca, Oliver and Viney out the way, it clears the path...

Review Dees v the Carlton Cheats: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I tuned in when the score was at 45-3 in the second quarter, so I'm happy to take credit for the turnaround. It also means that this post is going to be a little bit skewed since it looks like I missed most of the crap bits. Good: Gawn and Pickett just genuine match-winners. Incredible...

Game Day Round 2 vs Fremantle @ Optus Stadium – Sunday 21 March 2026, 7:35pm AEDT

Literally cannot remember the last time we were this uncompetitive in a quarter. This is the kind of thing I expected with a team trying to learn a new attacking game plan against a team with the abilitu to slice you the othet way, but not to this extent. We've been shit in litetally every facet...

If the team are playing badly, try shouting: "C'mon, do something!". This will encourage the players to do something.

    Stats observations

Sydney scored 75 points in the 3rd quarter today, which is the highest 3rd quarter score of any team since 1991, and a total which has only been achieved by three other teams in any quarter this millennium. The only other teams to score 75 points in a quarter since 2000: Essendon (94 points)...

MFC Fans Only Non-Demons AFL Discussion – 2026

I love it how Carlton always manage to find a way to whip their supporters up into a frenzy of excitement before spectacularly letting them down. Preseason wins over last years grand finalists? 22 points up in the opening round away to premiership contenders? Oops! Cop a 10-goal loss first up...

Retired #1: Steven May – retired

Was the best full-back we've had in my time supporting this club, and a key part of our success in '21. Shame it had to end this way, but I think it's for the best. Remains the player on the list I'd most like to have a beer with, and the player I'd least like to have 6 beers with.
