I would be expecting him to win clearances in an inside mid role and collect quite a few possessions in the manner that midfielders do. He has to do more in that role than simply batter and soften bodies. As a small defensive forward there is not so much pressure to gather possessions, provided...
Collecting how many possessions? He has been tried as an inside mid but the coaches have not persevered with the experiment. I feel certain that had he proved effective in the midfield he would have been given more opportunity in this role.
Eddie Betts kicked goals. Beau only kicks the odd one or two. Their possession numbers are not really comparable. Nevertheless I would currently give him a game ahead of Schultz.
MIA: Sidebottom, Lipinski, Schultz, McCreery, Quaynor, De Goey, Cox, Howe, Crisp.
Missed and irreplaceable: Murphy. Frampton is no substitute for what Murphy brought to the defence.

Except that Sier played many good AFL games. He may not have had his heart in the game, but he can at least say it was obvious he had an AFL career ahead of him if he had wanted it.
I wasn't suggesting excitement as the desired reaction to sitting on the bottom of the ladder nor would I want us to tank to pick up Long. But the glass half full part of me doesn't have much difficulty envisaging a number of losses ahead of us. I know you are optimistic about our chances this...

Important game this one. The way the tension is building and the gap between the 'she'll be right' and 'the season is doomed' supporters is widening, a loss or win is going to give one side or the other a lot of ammunition.
Hard to escape it when you are a key player for the AFL club that attacts the most media attention. Comes with the territory. Sounds like a decision will be coming soon. I am just surprised he has done another bunch of tests and engaged a panel of doctors. I'd have thought his condition was...
