Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn, Changkuoth Jiath - 2017 category B rookie

I noticed CJ was not out there today for Box Hill. Does anyone know what's happened? Thought he was locked in to play this week...

That was a bad bad deal. Was worth 2 years with a performance option of a 3rd....max.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Josh Ward. Extends to 2025!

Plenty of leadership on show also. Lots of pointing and directing. Looked to really embrace the challenge of stepping up for Box Hill. Great sign.

Player Watch 2024 Father-Son player watch - Ky Burgoyne and Ned Maginness

You would hope the AFL see in advance how bad it would look for a Hodge boy to be picked up by the Lions as an academy pick. Hopefully they look to close the loophole before they get egg on their face. Or they just don't care....always an option!

On the umps putting the whistle away late - it always happens! Which is a joke. Seem to recall they did the same in the prelim and the GF last year both in the Pies favour.

    Preview Round 6, 2024: North v Hawks, 4pm 21st April, Marvel Stadium

I'd like to see Ward go back to Box Hill and dominate the level for a few weeks. In the long run I think it could help his confidence knowing that he's far too good for VFL level. Obviously short term confidence knocked by being dropped.

Those outs would make sense based purely on form.

Sorry, that's my fault, I should have used the sarcastic font. I agree with you. Heaps to be gained from learning from other sports.

Waste of time Sammy heading to Spurs, not sure why he bothered. Different sports and all. edit: sarcasm font applied

Coach Sam Mitchell's direction for the club and 2024 news

Yes - pretty much this. We should have expert line coaches looking after their respective areas and not switching them around. I'm not an NFL expert, but I'm fairly certain their offensive co-ordinators specialise in this area and would never ever shift to look after the defence for example. I...

Coach Sam Mitchell's direction for the club and 2024 news

I find the switching around of line coaches really amateur hour stuff. I know we move our back coaches to the mids, forward coaches to backs etc; just to build up assistant coaches CV's. Why not get the best mid coach and keep them there for example?? Same across the board. Does my head in...

Does anyone think that could be us with the 12 year carrot? I immediately think Swans but that's based on nothing apart from their history of signing marquee talls.

Going to be a massive test this one. Like most posters, never too confident playing the Suns up there. Hoping for another match full of positives.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Connor MacDonald! Extended to 2025!

I've read and listened to a lot of Hawthorn content this week and the murmurings have started related to Connor's form to start the season. My view on this is yes, it's not been great, but we need to keep persisting with him. He is all quality and class, but more from an offensive / attacking...

Autopsy Round 4, 2024 : Hawks get Pied

It seems like an eternity ago that we had a forward that could find space, lead up to the ball carrier and kick straight like Hardwick did today. Was refreshing and great to watch! More of that please!

Autopsy Round 4, 2024 : Hawks get Pied

The Seamus inclusion was critical for team balance. Clamped down on Hill, gave us some drive and obviously allowed Hardwick to go forward. Can only hope the eventual inclusions of the likes of Day and CJ will have a similar affect to our structure and overall output.

Just checked his draft year. Went no. 5 in a fairly stacked top 10. What stood out is that we had our first pick at 52 (Kosi) and we then added Matthew Walker to our haul at 63. Don't have time to look at our trades for that season but either way....that's a horrific intake of young talent...

Player Watch 2024 Father-Son player watch - Ky Burgoyne and Ned Maginness

This loophole worries me! We could get burnt hard with Hodgey's boy! On the face of it, it should be as simple as saying if your dad played 100+ games then the father son club gets first crack on draft night. These boys aren't in the "grow the game" category. They've obviously been brought up...

    Preview Round 4, 2024 : Collingwood v Hawks, 5:10pm Sunday 7th, Adelaide Oval

Just came here to post similar. I like the idea of Hardwick playing up forward and effectively replacing Breust, but I would expect him to blanket Elliott who looked dangerous when I caught some of the Pies game last week.
