Shitful first three quarters but the final quarter was good into a very unfavourable breeze. Definitely looks like we flicked a switch at 3/4 time.
Heeney and Gulden were excellent, McDonald was our most dangerous forward and could have had 3-4.
Bye coming at a good time. Take the momentum and...
Win or lose the bye is coming at a good time. Hopefully we use the week off to sort out whatever is going on in the changerooms and get some trust back.
He's kicking 1.4 goals per game over his career, 2.3 per game so far this year. Those are good numbers for any key forward, let alone a 21 year old.
Boggles my mind those saying he's behind the curve. He's far from the finished product and has plenty to work on, no doubt, but he has shown more...
I'd like to see Fox moved into defence to cover Rampe. Not sure how bad Rampe is but no need to risk him against WC and with a bye after, just give him the two weeks to get himself right.
I know we got smashed in the clearances but I'd also like to see Adams get a full VFL game under his belt...
Pretty good. He's quite good at shifting direction and stepping through traffic to find the best option, rather than the first option.
Risk is if he's not ready for AFL level he'll get himself caught, but if he can pick up the pace of AFL footy the rest of his game should translate.
I would assume normally he wouldn't be named, but the recent drug news means its better to clear the air than let speculation fester that he got done for drugs.
Shitty either way but there it is.
People ask why Heeney hasn't played mids until now. But he has. Every time it's been tried in the past, it hasn't quite worked. Which is why he's been played forward instead.
This year the stars have aligned - he seems injury free, had a great preseason, and injuries forced the move...
Good call, he looked a bit slow last year but he's been real sharp so far this year. Not quite at his key-defensive best that he was at his peak but still really good. Good ball use, sharp defence, reads the play and provides an outlet.
Probably can't play on the big monsters any more but can...
We were rocked by the pressure early but steadied like good teams do.
Grundy had a shocking start but from about 15 minutes into the first quarter was the dominant ruck. There's a reason they subbed Draper.
Heeney kept up his form, and was almost the only Swan winning a clearance in the first...
I don't mind Corey's endeavour, he just doesn't look strong enough for seniors. He's tried to tackle a bunch of times but just bounced off.
I don't know if he needs to work on his core or what. He could have had 3 goals tonight, and he'd probably have looked better around the ground if he'd...
Grundy lifted after a horror first 10 minutes. Stopped trying to take Draper's space at the bounce and competed conventionally which seemed to give him a more solid base. What worked against Gawn won't work against everyone, good to see him adjusting.
We just looked panicked under Essendon's pressure, like we didn't expect it.
Good chance a quarter time reset will help. Most players have already steadied the boat.
Lpoking like the player he promised to be a few years back before his run of injuries.
Fingers crossed his body stays fit and his confidence continues to build. Was fantastic tonight and last week as well.
One of the best things about tonight was that our pressure looked almost effortless.
It's one thing to be desperately applying pressure - that's a great thing to have when another team is trying to get on top, but not particularly sustainable. It's another thing to be able to apply that...
Wasn't his best night, but his tapwork was still at a level we haven't seen in years, and he laid 6 tackles, second for us behind Rowbottom and 4th overall.
On a night where he struggled around the ground he still found ways to impact and that's really valuable.
He also got some frankly shitty...
Mostly agree. Still think he'll rotate through the midfield, but it will ba luxury to have him play defence and have him up the sleeve for rotations. Hodge-like role.
With Parker, Adams and Heeney all capable of playing forward, and Errol, Warner and Jordon all capable of playing wing, we've...
Don't think it's a shocker. If Hickey put in this performance we'd be satisfied. Nowhere near last week, but he's also had some real tiggy touch wood frees against.
Not a great game but also not cause for concern.
Not s**t, probably about broke even with Cameron/Cox, maybe a little behind but not drastically. Not dissimilar to where he was at half time against the Dees, hopefully he pulls out a similar second half.
