Thank you so much for the many insights you passed on. You're a true loss to those of us who cannot get to training.
Having grown up in the Riverina I wish you all the best. But not in a negative "The Riverina is a cesspool" way...it's just more Swans-focused than any sane person would dare...
Happy with this, and continues our approach of bringing in die-hard Hawks supporters (Jack was definitely one growing up).
Welcome Jack - may you kick many a goal, and annoy many an opposition supporter.
Too often we seem to not be a preferred destination, but you hope that prospective trade targets (top flight ones...) see these past two wins as reason enough to tell their managers "I want to go to Hawthorn".
Didn't watch the whole match, so can't speak for his early game, but watching McVeigh tear Suckling apart (and Suckling's horrible clanger kick that turned over to become a goal) infuriated me. Have very little doubt that Duyrea or Litherland would have crumbled in a similar situation, and both...
Definitely remember him as an honest trier, often against much larger and more naturally skilled opponents. Naturally, this meant he was one of the many eternal whipping boys of the era.
Was a fair athlete too. From memory he competed against, if not beat, Koutoufides at under-age athletics.
Not old enough to have seen him play, but there is a special aura around Peter Crimmins' name at Hawthorn - evident in the Club Champion award being named after him.
That photo with the Premiership Cup is haunting. He's a shell of a man, but what a great moment for him to have held on to at...
Do we know when the AFL will release the draft order? I gather we'll be low down owing to the Premiership, but depending on other clubs' list management there might be some passes before us (like Sydney last year). I'm anxious because I'd love us to pick up Hodge Mk II.
Encouraged by his highlights reel (not the one in the draft discussion, the one on the AFL site). Good balance, awareness and appears relatively lively.
Having watched his highlights package on the AFL website I must say I do like his taps to advantage and his ability to hit the ball at maximum stretch at centre bounces (I.e. he seems to read the ball very well and hit it at the peak moment). Welcome aboard Marc.
It most certainly depends on the team that picks you - but my point is that we weren't a good team back then, in a similar manner to St Kilda and Melbourne now. Whilst we had history on our side, we were not in great shape and it took some tough decisions to get us back to being a successful club.
Look back to 2005 though...they top prospects were faced with going to struggling Tigers or Hawks outfits. Now Roughead, Buddy...sorry, "He who shall not be named" and Lewis are multiple premiership players. Just like St Kilda and Melbourne now, it was only speculation to suggest we had a chance...
Definitely a polarising player - mainly because he was the "athlete trying to be a footballer" type. Wasn't overly strong, wasn't overly skillful, but tried hard - which was always admirable.
I wouldn't be surprised if we look towards tall timber - possibly Harry Dear (even though we opted against him as a F/S selection). Grimley doesn't appear to be a viable ruck option, but remains on our list. With Lowden now gone, and Brand the only other tall option outside of...
