AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas - dropped 😱

Setterfield is probably gone at the end of the year regardless. Tsatas should be getting games. This season should be his Last-Chance Saloon.

    Recruiting AFL Draft Watch 2026

So keen on HVH. I wouldn't be unhappy with speed on the ball or forward either, but this guy is schmicko.

AFL Player 13: Nik Cox - Returns to AFL level after 630 days out due to concussion

This will sound cruel, but a player who has self-preservation at the front of mind isn't going to win a crucial moment that wins you a final if it means they baulk when it's time to go. It's probably fortuitous for Cox that Ridley and May are injured because he'll have some opportunity to...

AFL Player 42: Jayden Nguyen - kicking goals in the VFL, back in the side to face Brisbane

Contested shoulder to shoulder with Neale at one point and shoved him off the ball.
  5. ghostdog

AFL Player 30: Nate Caddy - Has the yips

I'm not saying he's looking to leave, I'm saying he wants to win. He said he's not happy with mediocrity. We've been mediocre for a quarter of a century. Ergo, if we continue to be mediocre, I don't think he'd stick around. I wouldn't blame him.

AFL Player 30: Nate Caddy - Has the yips

This is a guy who won't stick around very long if we don't improve.
  7. ghostdog

AFL Player 32: Ben "Buckets" McKay

No good. Need to find a competitor.
  8. ghostdog

AFL Player 13: Nik Cox - Returns to AFL level after 630 days out due to concussion

    Doesn't compete. I wouldn't either if I knew I could die.

AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas - dropped 😱

If Caldwell is out and Tsatas isn't selected, he's probably gone. Whenhe flourishes at another club... I don't even know.

Coach Men's Senior Coach: Brad Scott

He put a bit of the blame for last week's loss on Tsatas today. Didn't isolate him, but also didn't name any others. Subtext would imply Parish. Should have played Tsatas anyway. God knows others have had their share of free trips.

AFL Player 30: Nate Caddy - Has the yips

There's a lot going on between the ears when he's lining up for a set shot. Needs to practise with Ted and McMahon more. Gee he looks like Cameron sometimes.
  12. ghostdog

    AFL Player 15: Dyson Sharp

Decent outing from Sharpie. When he develops a stronger body he'll serve us well.
  13. ghostdog

    AFL Player 41: Saad El-Hawli

Tough business, footy. Started to show some real improvement. I thought he was in the bests again today.
  14. ghostdog

AFL Player 3: Darcy Parish - 'managed' 😱

Interesting that they list him as managed, as though it would be too upsetting for the fanbase if he were officially omitted. Instead everyone's rightfully annoyed at being treated like idiots.
  15. ghostdog

AFL Player 5: Elijah Tsatas - dropped 😱

Yeah that's crazy. We need to see how Tsatas goes alongside Sharp and Robey. Not sure what Scott's doing but it looks like bloody mibdedness now.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

He'd be a second tier forward wherever he goes as well, wouldn't he? If he's unhappy with developing his versatility in the twos, good luck to him. Out of curiosity though, is he more physical than McKay?

AFL Player 26: Archer May - MCL injury (minor), listed as test

    Sign Innes for life now!

Coach Men's Coaches 2026 - Solomon becomes backline coach, McLean joins as development coach

I hope we're in conversation with Pendles about post footy life. Love to have him in the coaching team. Has already coached Archie, too.

    AFL Player 11: Jade Gresham

Don't know that I agree with this if it's solely body type that's the issue. Nick Blakey has a similar build but his speed allows him to play differently. Young years Jake Melksham was also very slight and is now just frame and muscle. Cox would have to develop a Melksham body and play a third...

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Agree. I'm looking forward to Sharp and Robey rotating through as that bigger mid. I don't think it's a matter of urgency. We'll get Setters back for a few games before the season's out.

    Recruiting AFL Draft Watch 2026

It wouldn't change things from my pov. Hayes is another intercepting type from what I've seen. We seem to have four intercepting tall backs; Ridley, Reid, McKay and Hayes. McKay should have been the guy who can also take/deliver the body contact when needed. Not sure that's Hayes' MO.

    Recruiting AFL Draft Watch 2026

If McKay wants out we need to do the right thing by him. I'm not sure if this is allowed, but maybe we should be looking for a KPD in the MSD who loves the contact. There must be someone in the minor leagues somewhere.

MVP RND 7: Essendon v Collingwood

3 SEH 2 ADW 1 Roberts Roberts good game but his disposal numbers are overrated. HMs Blakiston, Farrow, Caddy

That would be diabolical yet somehow not unexpected.

Preview Round 8: Essendon vs Brisbane, Docklands, Saturday 02/05/26 @ 12:35 AEST

I like the inclusions. No way I'm starting Parish on ground though. I'm swapping Tsatas and Parish in the order this week if I'm Brad. Challenge the more senior player to be more impactful with less ToG.
  29. ghostdog

AFL Player 3: Darcy Parish - 'managed' 😱

It was pretty clear McCrae's plan was to scrap the ball forward and deny us possession and time to get our short kicking game going. You could see the poor quality of their i50s in the first term especially was indicative of this. And because so many of our team are young they took a while to...

Actually think we'll respond well, too. And if we don't, the whipping boy stakes should become clearer.
