    Mod. Notice Vale Grizzlym

The GrizzlyM mixture of intelligence and acerbic wit combined to make some of the most hilarious posts I have read on this forum, he provided my main motivation to post on this board, and will be sadly missed. This is shocking news, my condolences to his family, RIP.

It appears that both those Ross comments were removed, God (or the moderator..) knows why. It was an entirely feasible concept, and the sort of bleeding edge thinking that has made our great club what it is today... the Kennedy centre cluster, the Clarko rolling cluster, and my suggested...

    Rumour Michael Close to Hawthorn?

Already nicknamed him Glen, seems like shades of fatal attraction.

So thats 5 technical retirees this season including Surman, has to be a record for HFC.

Best hawthorn Player Ever & Your Personal Favourite

Lethal hands down.. Through the 70s he was the unstoppable force, rarely missed around the goals, complete ball magnet and the consummate team player. He had absolute focus on winning, never appeared to really give a damn after kicking a goal - and was regularly kicking bags of 6+ as a true...

Death of the Great Hawthorn Full Forward

Simple recipe for forward (and premiership) success, you need three players capable of kicking 4 goals or more, with the team defense we see in todays game a single superstar full forward is not enough.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn, Changkuoth Jiath - 2017 category B rookie

I know what you mean - though in Petersens case the only thing that caught up with him was Petersen.. I will always remember his tackle on Gary Ablett when Gaz though he could just step the newby and run away - wrong. That guy was a special talent, though needed more than that, mainly...

Universal Love The Peter Hudson Tribute Thread - Recollections of the Great Man

Well... as i have waffled on about before, that round #1 '72 game was my first time at the Glenferrie Oval seeing the Hawks as a kid, all peachy keen to see the freakish Hudson (other than being dragged along as a sprogget a few times). Waited for a mate outside for an eternity, by the time I...

Prediction Burton vs O'meara. Which one is a more exciting prospect?

I will be excited by O'Meara if he can play good average football for a full season.

News Welcome to Hawthorn Tyrone Vickery's cats!

I wasn't overly keen on the trade after watching some of his on field antics at Richmond, such as the Cox incident a few seasons back, so hardly my favourite player. But Vickery is that weird type of player that seems to have the physical attributes to become a decent footballer, and looks like...

Toast Rising star Nom: Blake Hardwick!

He should be paying me royalties for that one, I coined it years ago, surprised it didn't stick.. For Blake I'd probably go with Keanu.

    Hawthorn 2017 Season Review

That was the season we were destined to have. I felt the 2015 results really flattered the team, we were already drifting down to 5-8 in terms of capabilities. This season seemed like about 12 rounds of denial, followed by a rejig of game plan and injuries to some senior players saving them...

    James Sicily

Must have missed that, been away from the AFL feed for a few days - fantastic news! Building a seriously solid backline now, and TBH - I find it difficult to see where all of Frawley, Birchall and Stratton fit into this mix, a good problem for the 2018 selectors.

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn: Harry Morrison.

Great debut! Looks like a real footballer, ran hard - and to the right places, seems to attract the ball, had a few excellent repeat efforts even when he was beaten, fantastic first game from the kid. I hope he can add a little bit of bulk to his frame over the preseason, seems to be the type...

    James Sicily

mentioned to roaming Brian he had re-signed, may have been tongue in cheek though.. hope we can retain him. This side with Rioli, Ceglar, Frawley, Birchall etc returning next season, maybe one decent recruit - and young guns like Mitchell, JOM, Burton, Hardwick, Sicily, Cousins, Glass ...all...

    Autopsy Hawks v Blues

I think Timbo shows enough raw talent to persevere, he actually imposed himself on a couple of games early in the season, albeit only spasmodically. From a ruck perspective next season should see a few more options than 2017, where TOB fits in that mix is not really clear. He has the makings...

    James Sicily

Add Frawley or Birchall to our current defensive mix and that becomes a solid A grade unit, and a great springboard for attack. Sicily, Burton and Hardwick are all required players, their intercept marking and attacking kicking really break the lines. I say pay Sicily whatever is required to...

    Preview Round 21, 2017: Hawthorn v North Melbourne, 13 August 2017, 3.20pm @ UTas Stadium

I'm not sure we can have two of this kind of player in the forward half, which is the current situation with Shoey and O'Brien. Prefer giving more gametime to O'Brien as he definitely has quality marking talent. Would like to see Shoey and Whitecross make way for Hodge and Hanrahan this week...
