The blustery conditions may have contributed to failure of the tactics in the first quarter. It’s hard to execute that type of game plan on a windy day.
I’d be playing Mitchell as sub if ready. Run is pretty important late in games when things start opening up. And it would provide a good segue into the season for him considering he missed the preseason hit outs.
If I was Mitchell, I’d be making sure everyone in the team knows who Stephen May is. Posters of him in the dressing room prior to the game- that sort of thing. I’d then be making the players aware they are duty bound not kick the ball anywhere in his approximate vicinity when mounting an attack...
Well, that was disappointing. A game characterised by a midfield that looked flat footed and a forward line that thought the behinds were the goals. Slightly better than last year in that we didn’t allow the opposition to get a run on. And our recruits have really given us something to work...
Our Achilles heel is our back line, plenty of rebound but lacking in competent, truly defensive types. The mids will be needing to work really hard when we don’t have the ball.
I just hope Watson doesn’t follow in Ginnivan’s footsteps and start playing for head high frees. It certainly worked against Ginnivan when it got the attention of the media. There were numerous times last season where Ginnivan nearly had his head ripped off, only to be called play on. At 170cms...
Yes this whole, “we are going to see team attacking a lot more this season” is a bit of wishful thinking, if the games just played are anything to go by.
I agree with the bolded part, however I attribute that more to the introduction of nuclear weapons, rather than policies and interventions of the US. In any event, Trump, his non-engagement stance and path to the Whitehouse, may not be assured as we are lead believe on the strength of Biden’s...
If Trump does get up in November, we may just have our answer to one of the big questions of our time. Will the world descend into chaos, sans the US as the global policeman. I suspect not.
With all this talk of a new look forward line, the success of it will come down to one man alone- Mitch Lewis. The key to us kicking winning scores is having him playing every week and having him in good form. Everyone around him is a bit player by comparison.
Lewis and Reeves are two different kettle of fish. Lewis is a proven quality key forward and given a decent run at it, will prove his value. Reeves, aside from his tap work, is way behind the leagues best ruckman. And may never achieve the output we had hoped he would deliver on.
I’d play Phillips ahead of Frost. In fact I’d play practically anyone on our list with a pulse ahead Frost. I’m not sure how I’ll cope watching him flap about like a fish out of water should he get a call up. FWIW, Phillips highlight package is impressive, the boy has a clean pair of hands and...
Blanck was probably the player we could least afford to lose this season. There really is no adequate replacement or him. As he is the only guy on the list that has the size and strength to play on the big key forwards. As others have mentioned, this is not Frost’s one wood, nor is it Sicily’s...
Looking at the pros and cons you could argue the following;
Pro’s- the bulk of our talent lies in our youth, which means there is large scope for improvement through natural progression.
We have developed some depth in some areas of the ground, which means to a limited extend we can safely...
Actually, health care in America is first rate. A mate of mine flew into L.A. with an undiagnosed leg infection. He went to a local G.P, who wasted no time in getting a bed in hospital. Turns out he had cellulitis- could have died if it had not been a result of the quick actions of the doctor he...
