Hey mate, without wanting to derail the training thread, being barefoot is obviously normal.
By extension of that idea, barefoot shoes should be considered more “normal” for us in a perfect world compared to traditional, built up shoes.
The challenge with barefoot shoes today is a lot of...
Hey all, I’m not sure whether this will be interesting or not, but since I can’t get down to training and give back that way, I thought I’d put something up thats caught my eye from afar.
There’s been a bit of chatter around the few ankle sprains some players have sustained recently and I...
Apologies if this has already been answered but I’m playing catch-up on the thread as we speak!
One thing we see a lot is that because we call them different things - like a calf and an achilles, it gives off the impression that they are seperate, isolated things, when in fact one just flows...
I’d be more than happy to pay that for JUH. For a young highly rated KPF, you’re not paying that for what’s he’s done, like drafting, you’re paying that for what you can see him become. He could be a really good KPF - possibly even the best in the league if it all clicks. You don’t get too many...
What about mature age talent mate? Outside of Phillips, are we in the mood for another Puopolo or Stratton type (if they're there), or are we not at that stage of our list build? Mannagh seems to getting talked up a bit.

Just to change things up a little, outside of pick 4 and McCabe, and assuming Dear doesn't get a bid (unlikely?) and we can take him as a rookie. Who else might we be looking at for those 1-2 final spots?

While I like the idea of Watson, coming away with a draft of potentially Curtin, O'Sullivan, McCabe and Dear added to Gunston and Chol and possibly Phillips in the SSP could really set up our spine for years to come.
It's often easier to find a great small fwd later/rookie than another Mitch...
I wasn't paying too close attention to CJ this year, but can I ask what his injury issues were?
For me, he's a great talent, just his body has held him back more than anything thus far.

Any insight into how we rate or see Dear mate? Genuine chance at being a good player or little bit of a speculative punt with upside? Appreciate the insights mate.

I believe Ethan Phillps - last years VFL MVP has signed with Box Hill. He's a big key defender who intercepts as well IIRC.
Can anyone who's watched him shed a little more light on him? Any word as to whether we are in to him at all?
Edit: I see KL said we're considering him for SSP. Awesome!
Geez McKercher looks amazing. Hypothetically, if he was still there at our pick which I get is very unlikely, but what could we do to our mids to accommodate him?
He'd probably start across the HF or HB line for a year or two as Ward, Mackenzie, and McDonald slide inside a little more.
Might...
Interesting aside, is there actually anyone out there we'd consider a die-hard expert? Seems most are just ex players who've shifted into the media post football or journalists in the spotlight. Seems a secondary role for most.

Realistically, we could use any one of Reid, Curtin, McKercher, Watson or Duursma. Trading back to 5 to lubricate the Bailey deal is a no brainer for me.
I'd also love to find a way to get a pick in the early teens to grab O'Sullivan too.
Someone mentioned splitting 4. We could get the Dog's...
For those in the know, does Curtain give off Pavlich vibes? Could he end up a good forward or a pinch hitting mid if he's not being touted as a CHB?
Still seems a great pick.

I posted something similar a little while ago, and i hope its not annoying doing so again, but just as an aside, and it might be semantics, but I reckon its important to think of these trades more broadly.
It's still a lot to pay, but it's never 3 picks for 1 player. It's 3 high picks for Reid...
Trading out next years F1 sounds like a no brainer doesn't it? If you had a choice between pick 3 this year or next years first you'd have to back the club heading in the right direction and hope that F1 pushes out to pick 7 or 8 at least.

I'd be happy to consider it if we could get another first rounder somehow in a salary dump to buffer it.
Also, I think a great way to look at a scenario like this isn't necessarily 4 for 1. On the surface it is, but realistically it's 4 players out (DGB, Brockman, Pick 3, F1) and then 4 players...
Play him as a mid. I remember when drafted he had dreams of being another Bont type. Re-cast him as another Nash and Day and see how he goes. He certainly has the talent, and his kicking and marking skills would be a great point of difference around the ground.
Better yet, let him find his feet...
Just on Duursma, how good is he? What type of player is he?
I don't know why but when I hear Reid, Watson, McKercher, Curtain and Wiz I hear solid to very good AFL footballer vibes, but is Duursma another skinny, skillful Stephenson/Hoskin-Elliot type who dominates juniors but ultimately...
