Yeah and I thought it was a shrewd appointment. Not criticising Greg Swann. I just think comments like that could get into the players heads at a subconscious level.
I agree with the premise of what you are saying, those saying Lohmann is not up to it is a harsh assessment as it is extremely difficult coming on as a sub. With 3-4 consecutive games in the starting 22 he may start to flourish and pick up the speed of the game. He cannot be gifted that...
I had a feeling when Greg Swann mentioned Cotchin had been engaged to help us “get over the final hump and win a flag” we were maybe getting ahead of ourselves a bit. Players need a reminder it’s a new season and last year and the years before that mean zilch. Hopefully these early losses are a...
More curious on everyone’s thoughts on how the bye will impact us? Does it essentially become another Round 1 match where we are rusty? It usually takes every team 2-4 games to start the year to really hit their straps and eliminate any off season rust. Playing two games(In which we have been...
Well yeah Stone & Adcock left and we brought in… no one? Dale Morris replaced Adcock as line coach but he was already on board in a development role. Suppose we replaced Morris with Daniel Lloyd in that development position. But overall technically 1 less coach from last years structure.
Okay but why do they get the chop when Berry and Rayner were just as putrid or in my opinion more so?
You can say more runs on the board but if some of these fringe types got a consistent go at it they might start to look more settled at senior level.
I’m not advocating for recklessly dropping...
Not players like Lohmann and Answerth who are constantly in and out/substitute. Players like Rayner and Berry who have been completely ineffective two weeks in a row despite being consistent best 22 players for 5-6 years now.
Fagan press conference: “I mean if you look at the stats it was actually a very even game. They got the better of us in the contest but I felt like around the ground we were able to gain ascendency. If you ignore that patch where they kicked 8 unanswered goals I think we actually played pretty well”
Swans, GWS, Suns & Lions last week, Lions only team to lose at home.
GWS, Suns, Demons & Lions this week, teams playing against teams who didn’t play last week, GWS, Suns & Demons all looked much sharper and got the win against teams playing their first games and looking rusty. Lions on the...
It’s almost as if the players start to sense it is the end of the quarter and freeze up thinking consciously about not conceding instead of continuing to play our brand.
Needs to be addressed.
I like the idea mentioned by some of keeping Lester in once Doedee returns allowing Doedee to play looser and float across for intercepts and utilise his elite kicking skills exiting defensive 50. Andrews, Payne/Gardiner, Lester, Doedee, Starcevich, Wilmot and McKenna as the back 7. Payne to...
I like Prior but not sure I agree with those saying he is a good kick. Can execute a nice kick from time to time and style wise has a nice left foot but too often sprays it or turns it over in my opinion. If he were to get a long stretch of games, however, say 10+ weeks he may start to settle...
Closest would be Carter Michael but he can’t get on the park himself.
Why is it always our brightest young talents doing their ACL? Hipwood, Rayner, Ashcroft and now Kiddy?

According to this Doedee will be available after the Round 2 bye which means he could debut against Collingwood on Easter Thursday. McKenna good to go v Freo if the coaches opt to bring him straight back in. No Torrent...
