Game Day North v Hawks zero wins apiece face off for the Clarko Cup. Souva’s 100th.

Improve our clearance work, increase our pressure around the ball and decrease turnovers = a win today. Not much to ask :/

Game Day Rd 5: Pussies v North at the expanded Baked Potato State Government Handout Stadium.

Sheezel, Duursma, Curtis, Ford, Powell, Comben, Biggy got us back into the contest and the same senior players letting us down Corr, Scott, McDonald.

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [Herald Sun] LDU has parked contract talks with the club & is expected to command offers of more than $1m a season

He needs support and if he needs support so do Wardlaw and Powell. Simpkin has to go back in the middle for longer stints.

Autopsy Gather round my fat hairy ass

A bigger concern for us might not be the lack of talent or any resemblance of a game plan, but the fact that this team and its senior players in particular look like they have accepted losing. I saw a photo of Nick Hind after their hiding to port Adelaide and it looked like he was in tears.

Game Day Grand Final. North Melbourne V Brisbane. Just you wait and see.

Full of confidence heading in due to the way we have finished the season as well as the first two finals. We just couldn’t really get our game going today and still lead for most parts of it. Our pressure was good, but not great..tired legs perhaps. Our clearance work today I thought kept us...

AFLW North Melbourne Football Club AFLW - Season 2023 [GF: North vs Brisbane @ Ikon Park, Sunday 3 December @ 2:30pm - NM 27 - 44 BL]

It’s Grand Final day! What’s everyone’s read of this game? Our defence has been the best in the business all year, and defence wins premierships. It will be dry and sunny which will suit our experienced talls up forward. Randall, King, Shierlaw will give us a contest all day. The question...

Not sure which pick Curtin will be taken with in the draft, but I’m impressed with his handball and ability to link up with a team mate. Doesn’t look special, but he will improve the way we exit our defensive 50 drastically. Can see him working well with Bergman, Goater, Corr etc. He will...

Past #26: Tarryn Thomas [Part II] - will honor his contract and play on at NMFC in 2024, so says the reality TV manager

The most damaging player on our list. Took a huge leap forward this year with his on field form and became more than just x-factor.

Player Watch #2: Jaidyn Stephenson - dropped vs Geelong & misses out again vs Hawthorn

Generally positive, but he’s a non-competitor. In the air and when the ball was at ground level today. Performances like this kills rebuilds.

If all falls into place with Sanders, Picks 2 and 3 I think we’ll have to look at filling needs with one of our first two picks. Id be happy with either of these options: 1. McKercher, Watson, Sanders 2. McKercher, O’Sullivan/Curtin, Sanders Option 1: Watson provides us with a dangerous...

This kid went up a level when the game was in the balance. That’s sign enough for me that we need to keep playing him. A great example of where hard work can get you.

Autopsy North lose a heartbreaker to the Saints by 8 points

Defence as a unit looked more mobile and worked together much better. Slow start but eventually our disposal coming out of D50 was at an acceptable level. We didn’t invite pressure over and over again like in the last few weeks. We must persist with Goater and Archer down there. I would replace...

Autopsy North lose a heartbreaker to the Saints by 8 points

How much better do we look in the middle and around stoppages with Goldstein in the ruck? Not only does he hit the ball to dangerous positions but his follow up and link up work with our mids in close is influential. Fantastic reader of the play. We need to give the guy another contract...

Go best available. Sanders and McKercher at our picks look great. As good as Wardlaw, Phillips and Powell may be, they have big questions marks over their injury history. The more guys get injured in their formative AFL years the less likely they are to reach their full potential. Just...

Game Day North v Jeff Kennett

Heart wants us to do well, it always does. Head says we are just so far away from putting together 4 qtrs. Can we stay in the game long enough to build some belief and snatch a win? Hawks are a young side and played well against the Giants last week. They will be hungry for a win and are a...

Game Day Pussies v Roos - The Hamish McIntosh Cup.

Just goes to show the physical requirements to play at afl level. As talented our young guys are we aren’t ready for them to back it up week after week. A big chance for Lazzaro to show he belongs. Also nice that we have a group of about 5 kids we can bring in when one needs to be managed.

    Player Watch #29: Will Phillips

Has improved in almost every statistical area in his game. Players don’t become superstars overnight. I’d be concerned if these numbers stagnated or went backwards but not while they are improving.

Preview Round 17 Changes and pre-match discussion vs. Geelong @ GMHBA

I like how the narrative from the club is changing. Players are coming out now and publicly stating we are ready for the next step. They can see it at training, they can see it during games, they believe it’s not far away. Let’s put in a strong showing this week and then we’ve got 3 very...

I know we need a tall forward and perhaps a key back if McKay leaves, but can we truly say any of them stand out the way McKercher does as a mid? That midfield trio looks like it could be the best in competition in terms of clearance, breakaway and ball winning ability. It will allow us to...

Coach Alastair Clarkson IV - HFC Racism Investigation Discussion

The more games Clarkson misses the more games are wasted in learning his game plan. 3 seasons ago, we were on par with Adelaide in our rebuild. Further on and look where we are compared to where they are. We have the more talented list, but they’ve got a stable senior coach and game plan...

    Player Watch #40: Eddie Ford

If blokes like Ford, Taylor, Archer, Harvey, Drury, Perez etc can improve to the point that they are fighting for a starting position or spot in our 22, rather than being on the delisting scrap heap it will make us a way better side. This sounds obvious but more likely than not the bottom 5 or...
  23. The Maestro

    Player Watch #30: Charlie Comben

Improvement of Coleman Jones has taken the pressure off Comben being in the side. Let him recover and like our other young players at the moment, give him a game when he is smashing the door down at VFL level.

    Player Watch #24: Tom Powell - signed thru 2026 - 7th highest ranked player league-wide after 3 rds - avg. 27.7d & 7clearances p/g

Feel like he has been mismanaged to be honest. Never given a go in his preferred position. He might not deserve a start in the midfield but he is good enough to be apart of the rotation. These days you need to bat deep in midfield and if I were North I’d be putting up a fight to keep him.
  25. The Maestro

    Player Watch #24: Tom Powell - signed thru 2026 - 7th highest ranked player league-wide after 3 rds - avg. 27.7d & 7clearances p/g

I can’t remember the last time our VFL side was competitive like it is now. It paints a picture as to why we’ve been mediocre for so long. Our standards and performances will lift when players are competing for positions.

    Player Watch #24: Tom Powell - signed thru 2026 - 7th highest ranked player league-wide after 3 rds - avg. 27.7d & 7clearances p/g

We have enough players who can genuinely run through the midfield and the wings. We need to pick the ones in the best form. Having someone like Powell playing VFL to fight his way into the side is a good problem to have, rather than gifting games to players regardless of form.

Player Watch #9: Luke Davies-Uniacke [Part II] - [Herald Sun] LDU has parked contract talks with the club & is expected to command offers of more than $1m a season

Needs to get over these injuries. I’d wrap him up in cotton wool until after the bye if need be. He is such an explosive player, we can’t afford to have him breaking down. The kids along with Greenwood and Simpkin are doing just fine for now.

    Player Watch #8: Bailey Scott

Really really good game again from Bailey. You can see he has the confidence now and he just gives us so much more noticeable width to our play, helping to open the ground up for us.

Preview Changes and prematch discussion vs Port Adelaide

Defensive structure was solid last week. It’s been a big weakness in our poor run of form and it’s a positive because it’s obviously something we’ve worked on. We build on that this week, with some better attacking play. No Dixon and Rioli up forward is huge for us. Throw in the Tassie...
