Love this bloke. Never forget an interview with the Sunday Inquisition last year where he knew he had opportunities to move to GWS etc., but was determined to stick with the club and do what was best for the club, even if that meant playing this year in the reserves.
Super clubman.
Something seriously wrong if winderlich is one on 4 up one end then Hawthorn have free men all the way down the ground for shiels to stroll in and kick the easiest of goals.
Played alright tonight, a few nice disposals, set up a couple which is good.
Must hold his feet though, especially in the defensive half, at least once that I can recall, he went to ground early in a contest, and his opponent set up a goal as a result. If he can't fix that, he can't play at...
Re: #23: David Myers - Where is he?
Good thing is, this won't matter at AFL level, as holding the ball doesn't get penalised anymore.
Good to see him perform well for Bendigo, and if his pace is back, looks good for us.
I've been turned around on this one, maybe because now the season's started, the threads have been a little more spaced out.
Personally, i think that the default link (clicking on the title) should go to "view first unread", but understand that would be difficult to implement. For those long...
It's strange that they would make such a point of enforcing this, while the AFL does nothing about shepherding the man on the mark. If I recall 2 years ago, Neagle nearly landed on his head because someone (Mackenzie?) from West Coast came from behind.
Although it's not strictly against the...
All I can say is, if we don't throw someone back behind the last line so that teams can't just kick over our heads in transition and run onto it, we'll be slaughtered next week. Evidence tendered: Elimination final last year.
Same thing seemed to happen to us last night. It's only when...
Some thoughts about this from someone who's on daily, but doesn't post very regularly at all:
I understand the rationale about bringing the Player Watch threads to the main board, but coming to the front page, it's very confusing.
Although encouraging long threads does make it easier to...
In the end, happy to have Hurley AND Zaharakis, but at this stage, based on consistent performance, I'd actually have Zaharakis over Hurley. In his first couple of years, was a reliable goal kicker and we all know what happened this year.
Once Hurley gets bigger and better, I think he'll end...
Re: The Hangar "Breaking Bad" Thraed **SPOILERS**
Things have a tendency to resolve themselves very brutally though, so it wouldn't surprise me if something similar happened this season.
I don't actually think he had a quiet second half. He had a quiet first quarter when we were on top, but really stepped it up in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, basically single handed (with Monfries) in trying to generate some sort of offence.
Fantastic game from Stanton, but so few other...
afl.com.au article is confusing. Headline says weeks, article says games. I suspect it's games, not weeks, so he won't be back till middle of next year, if he keeps his job.
Re: Dean Wallis in betting scandal
14 weeks. Looks like it included an Essendon game, according to this: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/122965/default.aspx
Hank,
Whether you go Canon or Nikon is basically a flip of a coin UNLESS you have access to existing lenses. Regards the lens kits, the 18-55 is not too bad, but the 50-250 (or equivalent) one is not so good. Focal length is way off and for sports photography, you'll need something a fair...
Exactly as I thought. Another thing that bugs me is the tribunal counsel vs player representation.
Surely the tribunal is smart enough to take into account the MRP findings and just hear a fresh argument from the player's advocate. Why do we need a prosecutor?
Re: Hocking gets 1 match, Waters free to play [Essendon to challenge suspension]
As far as I know, the maximum penalty that Hocking can get is still 1 match, even if we lose the appeal, so it's a no-brainer. If we win, he plays against Port, if we lose, he still plays first week of the finals.
Re: Hocking gets 1 match, Waters free to play [Essendon to challenge suspension]
Not expecting the tribunal to get Heath off. They've been just as baffling as the MRP this year. Trengove being given 4 weeks for a sling tackle, for example.
Expect Hocking to be out next week, as bullshit as...
I'm sure we all remember the last game of 2008. St Kilda needing a big win to make top 4 against us, with our season already shot.
Hopefully this plays out the same way. We've got a rest next week, players can go hard for 4 quarters, and if we win BIG, we can overtake Sydney's percentage...
How good is it to have a goal kicking midfielder again... Been a while since we've had a genuine consistent threat to kick goals from stoppages. Loving Zaharakis' work.
