    Oppo Camp Ex-Cats Watch

Thought it might be an idea to have a thread dedicated to following the highs and lows of ex-Cats now playing for other clubs (but not add to the Steve Johnson debate - please place elsewhere). To kick off... Shane Kersten: 2 matches for 2 losses, 1 goal 1. Nathan Vardy: 2 (consecutive!)...

    Toast Harry Taylor

I was looking to bump a 'Toast Harry Taylor Thread' but there hasn't been one for a while. With our (deservedly) group love for our new recruits, I thought it time to recognise one of our long-term stars who is back to his best form. Harry was magnificent again against the Bulldogs, but there...

    About the Geelong Falcons

A question from an 'inter-stater'. What is the story with the Geelong Falcons and the GFC? Is there any formal relationship? In the light of the 'argy-bargy' of NSW/QLD Academies, is there scope for established clubs to 'adopt' TAC Cup clubs as their 'academies'? (a comment on the autopsy...

    Ablett v Selwood

The AFL website has this great series of highlights of Joel and Garry Jnr, its a joy to watch as more that half of Gary's highlights he is in the hoops. If I knew how to post a link I'd do it. Have a look!

Roast Whinging Media - Selwood v Curnow

Check this article (or at least the first part) It pays to have friends in high places The gist of the article is a whinge piece that Cameron Ling and "Channel Seven commentary team had it in for tagger Ed Curnow from the get-go", and that "the commentary team repeatedly referred to him...

MVP AFL Round 14 votes - Gold Coast v Geelong

It's 9:30 and a MVP thread hasn't been started yet? 5. Duncan 4. Kersten (did all that was asked of him - getting that last shot at goal would have got him to 5 votes) 3. Guthrie 2. Motlop 1. Varcoe Hawkins unlucky to miss, but I had to give a vote to Varcoe after being among his critics of late!

MVP AFL Round 12 votes - Geelong v Carlton

Nearly an hour and no votes thread yet? 5. Hawkins (and again spoke well in his after game interview) 4. Stokes (champagne delivery and 3 goals) 3. Horlin-Smith (coming of age) 2. Guthrie 1. Selwood (relatively quiet night, spectacularly brave mark and game winning goal)

Don't we have an MVP thread after a loss? (Mods, feel free to merge with the 'formal' thread) 5. Duncan 4. Kelly 3. Stokes 2. Bartel 1. Walker (at least he kicked straight)

    Universal Love Shannon Byrnes

I anticipate that Shannon will line up against us this week for Melbourne. I would like to think that the Geelong crowd will respect this faithful servant of our club on Saturday. He is a 2-times AFL premiership player, and VFL premiership player. His last kick in the Geelong hoops was a goal...

Our two key forwards are leading the Coleman count

Interesting isn't it? If you were to be told before the season started that our two key forwards would be neck and neck at the top of the Coleman count after three rounds - you wouldn't expect Geelong to be 1-2 and in 11th position.

    Joel Tweets - AFL Bleets

I'm surprised there isn't already a thread about Joel's tweeting his opinion re Falou. He only said what everyone was thinking - but as Captain might have been a little unwise. The AFL's reaction on the other hand is clearly OTT. BTW, I got to the game late last Saturday so I missed the first...

Toast Top 20 paid AFL players

Article in the Hun said that none of Geelong's three times premiership players is in the top 20 paid AFL players. I felt incredibly proud of my team about this. Brian Cook had said in a presentation I attended that Geelong had the most players paid above the AFL average, but no-one above the...

Sorry Wallabies - it's my fault!

The football gods asked me to choose between Australia winning the World Cup Rugby, or a Cats premiership. Damn un-patriotic of me I know!

    Wojcinski is the omen!

By my reckoning, David Wojcinski is the only player to play in all three premiership victories, but not the loss in '08. (anyone know what his plans are for next year?)

    Holding the Ball decisions

I don't normally whinge about umpiring, but there seemed some inconsistency with the 'holding the ball' decisions tonight. It seemed Geelong players were pinged more readily (Kelly, Stokes) the GC players (Ablett). I've long since given up on 'improper disposal'. I don't think that rule...

    Toast Best Geelong Avatar

I'm usually impressed by the quality of some of the avatars used by the Geelong BFer's. (I know - mine is pretty lame!) But my favourite so far is "Maydok" - Mooney about to job Didak - priceless! Another honourable mention Max's diving chest mark. (Cats2rise) If you think your avatar is...

    Gamble in Saints' best 18?

 I was in Melbourne on the weekend and read that Mike Sheehan considered Ryan Gamble in St Kilda's best starting 18! Does that say more about St Kilda's depth, GFC's talent management or Sheehan's judgement?

Is Podsiadly a Skilled Stadium specialist?

There have been a few comments on various thread regarding Pods' ability to perform away from Kardinia park - so I thought I start a thread to coalesce the discussion. I'm on the side of the negative - I don't believe that Pods is (or will remain) a Skilled Stadium specialist - here's why...

Help requested - Board of Directors Election

Fellow BF'ers I've received my slip to vote for 7 of 10 nominees for the GFC Board of Directors, as an out-of-towner, I don't really have a schmick as to who any of these folk are and which would be best for the club. Any objective, non-slanderous, non-libellous comments on the candidates would...

    Review AFL Round 19 post-mortem - Geelong v Collingwood

I note the other threads have the lynch mob out for the usual suspects, but I'd like to start a constructive review thread. My thoughts.... -Collingwood wanted it more and deserved the win. Could they play better? maybe they could kick straighter, but I think they are in peak form right now...

    Review AFL Round 17 wash-up - Geelong v Brisbane

Thought it would be nice to have a review thread after a win (we only seem to have them after losses!) My observations: - Joel Selwood was fabulous again today, picked up where he left off last week. Was in everything. BOG! - Gary was very good. Seems to have shrugged off all the brouhaha...

Andrew Mackie - Jekyll or Hyde?

Can't work this guy out. In the same match - one moment brilliant, only to be followed by total brain farts, then brilliant again. If only we could send him to the bench for the brain farts.

    Toast James Kelly

I searched to find a James Kelly thread to bump! so here's a new one. He tends to get overshadowed by the ABC* and Selwood, but his return to the team at the end of last season show how important he is to the team. Tonight he was BOG for mine. In everything, getting the hard ball and...
