They’re going to push that 40,000 capacity in the next few months.
Port (currently 2 vs 3)
GWS (both currently 5-0)
Richmond (first time since 2017)
Hawthorn (first time since 2006)
All will pass 35k.
The main reason Marvel has a bad stigma is because it’s not the MCG, mainly from the people whose routine is to go to the MCG.
When they had the Matildas there in Feb, with the roof open and a full house, I was thinking to myself how ridiculous it is that people complain about it the way they...
With high demand and such low ticket prices, it’s completely expected.
There would be a sizeable number of interstate fans who picked up cheap tickets and then elected against making the trip due to airfare prices/low hotel availability etc.
48,000 is a fantastic turnout for such a unique...
39,352 for Geelong vs St.Kilda at GMHBA
(Via Hamish on the TV)
Pretty close to the 40,000 - great result. Apparently their biggest crowd at the ground since Easter Monday 1981, and 6th biggest ever.
My last two footy games have both been Geelong vs Essendon at GMHBA - the practice match on Friday and the AFLW elimination final in November. Both times they seemed to underestimate the expected crowd.
But it’s a really nice stadium to watch the footy at, love the fact they’ve kept some...
Wrestling comes up a lot the last couple of years, and as much as I get a kick out of Damo being COMPLETELY oblivious to what any of it is about, you can tell Hutchy would love to spend a half hour a week talking about it.
There’s nothing wrong with being bullish about your team, but if you’re going to be so ridiculously selective about it, you’re setting yourself up for failure. It becomes delusion.
It’s great that Gold Coast travelled well, but they won 6.5 games this year, and 3.5 of them were against the...
I know you say a lot of questionable things in these threads, but using “flat track bullies” in this fashion just makes you look foolish, hypocritical and bitter.
Wouldn’t say “probably misses finals”. For Essendon to miss, they’d need to lose to Gold Coast, and would need 3 of Geel/StK/Syd/Coll to win (3 of those are also 10-15% behind).
I’m not saying it can’t happen (and I am nervous), but given 4/5 results have to go a certain way, I wouldn’t say...
Has the Punt Road redevelopment started yet? As in, is it running at a lowered capacity? I couldn’t tell watching on TV.
Because if not, that’s a spectacularly disappointing crowd.
They’ve always been bogus when over 100,000.
My assumption (pure speculation) is that they can’t announce more than the capacity due to safety regulations.
So they should. They finished 1st.
The higher ranked team at the end of the H&A season has hosted the Friday prelim for 11 seasons in a row. And you’re out here arguing “WHAT IF” like a petulant child.
This whole thread is embarrassing nonsense, but you’re certainly the MVP of talking...
Think we can be grateful Loonerty went a decade early with this post.
I feel bloody lucky to have been able to watch his career at Essendon from the very beginning in the VFL all the way until Friday night. Just one of the most beloved players ever to play for the club, or in the AFL in general...
You couldn’t pay me to attend this game. Essendon have been atrocious for the last 6 weeks, and I have absolutely no interest in watching them play again this year, live or otherwise.
I’d just like to point out… I posted this on Friday night.
And then on the Saturday Rub, Bill has his quiz, and manages to shoehorn in that he won Geelong’s Goalkicking in 91/92, kicked the behind to reach the highest score, that he owns the Cremorne Hotel, AND a question related to him...
Simply put - because it’s not “much less likely” that Easter Monday will draw a big crowd.
Geelong vs Collingwood has a higher peak, but the data shows that it’s less consistent than the Easter Monday game. Both matchups, as with any matchup, come down to form and scheduling, and Easter gets a...
Another for us all to enjoy.
The “Chompers Frawley” piece will always be my favourite. But the majority will always remember this, and for good reason. It may not be my personal favourite, but even I can’t deny that this was the peak of The Rub.
It’s made even better seeing them so happy...
