I don't know if this is lame but I urge anyone who hasn't had a health check in the last 3 years to make an appointment this week. #maketimetobehealthy I'm 51, I ride my bike regularly and this has shaken me up to do so. #ripcouchy
Not to mention that Cloke has trained and his body is conditioned to forward work.
While it's quite normal for players to switch forward to back, it's not something that happens overnight (Ben Reid had a season in the VFL learning how to play CHB). And playing as a backman, Cloke would have to...
solid yes, but prior to last night had disposal and decision making issues - always made me nervous whenever he got the ball in a similar way to Presti. Tooves is similar but Alan has the benefit of being able to play on taller players.
I don't question his heart BTW.
If you're right, I look...
does anyone have a calendar? It's February FFS. Yes Sincs was very very good but I'm going to hold my judgement (on him as well as other players) until we play some real matches. In the meantime keep up the good work Ben - hope you don't get carried away like some of your fans
Disagree - Trading down if done right has its merits.
For instance trading down from 4 to get 8 and 22 would've been a genius move if we'd picked say, Beckham Jnr and Bridgewater instead of Gilbert and Johnny.
Passing on Sammy Watkins didn't hurt us as much as picking 2 duds in the first round.
Too right. The problem with Farmer is that he didn't even see the draft prospects first hand so he couldn't make assessments on their character. eg Cam Erving being lazy, Terrance West having bad attitude etc etc.
Plus Pettine and O'Neill had a confusing scheme which didn't utilise players...
Where someone is drafted to totally in the eye of the beholder. While most pundits wouldn't rate Goff as the 2nd best player in the draft, he'll be picked there simply because we need a QB and there won't be anyone worthwhile at 32. It's supply and demand.
And QB is such a specialised role and...
Don't want AP - cheap running backs can be found either in the late draft or even in the undrafted ranks (eg Crow). I just want to get the right scheme and get the O Line working again.
how did he make a huge fuss? He said he wanted to go to Brisbane (for his dad or the $$ it doesn't matter). We didn't like it because we felt our bargaining power was taken away from us. Brisbane in my opinion made the big fuss.
Treloar said he wanted to come to us - similarly the Giants...
If Aish can be our Burgoyne this will be the trade of the century. Notice that Clarkson puts Burgoyne in the middle when he needs to ramp up the pressure. Extremely great clearance player
Classifying players as 2nd talls 3rd talls is misleading. The reality is that opposition defences will decide who is the primary threat and assign their most appropriate defender and so on.
My comments weren't directed at you specifically. It was more an observation of the general tone of the board. For instance, during trade negotiations for Beams, there was much proclamation about him being an elite AA level mid (which is true) but less about his defensive weaknesses - but his...
I presume you're also suggesting that there is only one spot for Grundy or Witts? Am ok with that as the interchange rules will place a greater premium on endurance and mobility around the ground - we certainly can't carry 3 rucks.
Side question - does anyone know Cox's fitness/endurance levels?
One could say the same thing about Swanny but I'd be excommunicated for that. I adored Swanny and Beams for what they brought to the team but they aren't perfect.
This doesn't apply to you but would be interesting if the commentary on Beams' weaknesses would still be published if he was still a Collingwood player. Removal of the rose-coloured glasses on ex players seems to change the tone of a number of posters
