I personally think the hawks (and most likely Jeff) don’t want a captain that has come from another club. They want a born and bred hawk, one club captain. Considering the players hawthorn have brought in over the years this significantly reduces the field. I think Shiels is maybe past his best...

For sure. It bugs me a lot that players think they’re playing rugby union and ‘clearing out’ the ruck. If a player tackles someone that doesn’t have the ball (only one player can have the ball) or pulls someone off a pack, it should be holding the man.

I actually think not paying holding the ball has contributed to sling tackles. Watching silk on danger the other week it looked like he was thinking “I have to get this guy to ground” as he will be given an eternity to get his hands free and get the handball off. pay the frees earlier...

There was a discussion on his program about two weeks ago with everyone calling in suggesting that holding the ball should be paid more. Gerard certainly didn’t disagree. Now that clarko says it, he’s being a sook?

Surely not a big issue considering they play AFLW matches at most suburban grounds and play the marsh cup games all over in feb/march All of those are televised. Only issue might be the score review but that’s not perfect anyway

Amazing the last few weeks we can’t kick straight in decent conditions. Come the first time snow has appeared in an afl game and we kick 6:2 in the first half :think: Bring it back in the 2nd half

Pretty sure if offer is matched then the player can’t be traded. The trade would happen instead of the offer as the threat of matching would mean missing out on that player.
