Disappointing that his teammates didn't console him after the mistake.
Umpires weren't the reason we lost tonight, we coughed up multiple goals through skill errors in D50 and then stuffed up way too many opportunities in attack. But how can the AFL justify, in a preliminary final, selecting...
Don't agree with the OP, he can only work with what he's been given. That said, he's not above criticism and why didn't we go man-on-man tonight at any stage tonight (except possibly start of 4th quarter)? All night the Hawks were able to find the loose teammate between three Dockers.
Strange call, hardly like for like. Another player with iffy disposal is hardly the solution to our woes. Langdon, Weller, Blakely, Crozier (if he gets his act together), Bennell - yes. Speed, pace, skill, composure, goal sense is what we need.
Yeah fair call, I forgot about him. However, there's a reason he was dropped some weeks ago, and I still haven't forgiven him for that pathetic effort against Gunston in the 2013 GF. Would be a better alternative to some of our bottom 6 today though.
At least they have good grounds for cockiness. The Hawks were embarrassed last night, need to get over a formidable semi-final opponent and have injury concerns, yet if you were to read the Hawks board you'd think the prelim will be a cakewalk for them.
That's all well and good, but we don't have an elite user in the wings ready to play in the prelim. Realistically, you're looking at either Weller (too inexperienced) or keeping a Mzungu/Suban/Clancee Pearce in the team - Sheridan offers more than any of them at the moment.
I agree with you, his disposal needs to improve (although no worse than Pearce), but he would have been right up there today for metres gained and he showed some impressive composure and evasive skills. Anyway, his disposal is normally neat, without it being a real weapon. And I didn't say that...
You're right, but the strange thing is they can turn it on and be super slick for a while - e.g. first quarter against the Roos. Even today, some of the ball movement, particularly early, was clean and skilful. It's mostly (barring some inveterate ball butchers) between the ears IMO.
It's weird isn't it. I was at the grand final and all the Hawks supporters I spoke to, before and after the match, were exceedingly magnanimous in victory - although, of course, in the lead-up the Bigfooty Hawks became obsessed with 'manic pressure' and the media 'having it in for them'. Then in...
I'm not really au fait with the rules around trading future picks, but is it possible to trade a 2015 pick for a 2016 pick from another club, then pass that pick onto GWS? Not suggesting by any means that the one first rounder would be enough, but, if GWS really has no use for 2015 first...
Sydney will be absolutely flogged by Hawthorn in the prelim (assuming we beat them of course), so in that respect I'd rather play the Bulldogs in W1, who might at least be competitive against the Hawks.
