Nope.
There won't be a 3rd SA team in the next 50yrs... this was decided in 1990. IF Port got the first licence, Norwood the second, then a third combined AFL side would make sense. Now it wont happen, where will the supporters come from unless you go regional like Coober Pedy or something.
Well 3rd qtr now... and game over.
After going almost undefeated in the minor rounds, the bays have now gone 1-3 to finish the season.
Disappointing in the 100th year, but credit to the club making all 5 grandfinals this year across the board winning the woman's and reserves.
On SM-G996B using...
Promotion/Relegation system would never work in the SANFL for the following reason: Money.
SANFL clubs struggle big time financially, adding extra clubs or getting clubs who are promoted enough money to compete at the higher level would be impossible considering the SANFL is a state competition...
Good win by the Bloods. They certainly played better on the day. My old man is one happy boy today.
On the crowd, the cost of tickets was ridiculous (lucky I managed to get one off a friend). I would have thought the SANFL would open the gates to any AFL member (with game access) to encourage...
Was a great crowd there on Sunday... And if Port weren't playing in Melb the night before could have been 5k more supporters at the match.
The result was s**t... but congrats to Norwood. Both sides should be playing in the AFL, is the SANFL weren't dumb stupid stubborn w***ers then both sides...
I think Nick Salter would disagree with you here. Port didn't see him as a forward at AFL level for the side, and thought he would make a good defender (probably the way CCornes was swapped from a forward to backman). Eagles being stubborn refused to play him in defence so he could learn the...
The fact of the matter is there isn't any point complaining. The SANFL clubs voted for the AFL sides to enter in reserve teams for the competition. Why did they do this, because the money they will get for allowing it so they dont all go bust in the next cpl of years.
If the SANFL clubs voted...
Nope an AFL reserves side would be Power reserves... but Magpies need to stay in the SANFL, and Im sure the SANFL would want this. After all when we first entered the AFL in 97, the SANFL forced us to keep fielding a magpies team because they know how important they are to the league.
I think...
Yep I would definitely prefer an AFL reserves comp, as long as the Magpies can still exist in the SANFL and Port can then get some for of zone back for the SANFL.
AFL reserves would ensure AFL teams are aware of how they are travelling for the future too. But no AFL reserves will be around...
So where has the SANFL been getting all its money from the last 20yrs? thats right, most of it is generated through the two AFL clubs. I can garuntee you right now, if the SANFL didn't move to AO with the two clubs and remained at West Lakes it wouldn't take long for them to go bankrupt.
Yep...
No doubt changes will be made to try and bring the Maggies and Crow reserves back into the same ballpark as the rest of the comp. What these changes will be, who knows. Probably some ludicrous changes.
One thing is for sure, now the SANFL dont hold the licences for the two AFL sides, the comp...
Yeah hopefully 7 allow the matches interstate or online so we can all watch some decent football.
Couldnt read the article cause the advertiser say ive read too many today, but did it mention the break up of the games?
Will the game broadcast each week feature ravens/magpies v someone else...
Wow... Was i confused for a while there, til I took notice of the 2003 date...
Another team in the AFL from SA may happen, but I doubt it will be for 20yrs or so. In 10yrs time, one would suspect 2 new sides may enter, one of which being Tassy, and the other coming from WA, Qld or NT. Then a...
Im not sure who that Williams is, however I think it might be Fos's cousin. If I remember correctly, he originally wanted to go to Port because thats where his cousin? played, however he lived in the West Adelaide draft zone.
I had a quick look through my Bound for Glory book but couldnt find...
I dont want to seem biased or ignorant or anything like that but why is Robran regarded as a lot better footballer than Ebert? All I can do is go by the stats since I wasnt born til end of 85 season, So I never saw either of them play.
But Robran with 3 Mag Medals and Ebert with 4.
Robran with...
It would be good to see the boys have a great start to the season.
With Choppy and Thurgood it will add a bit more in the centre. And if Waterhouse can stay fit, he will be a great inclusion in the forward line, after all he averaged 4 goals a game last year for his 8 games, so if he can do...
Joining the QAFL would be a major setback for the NT.
I would rather we wait 2-4 years if needed to join the SANFL or WAFL because that would be 10-fold more beneficial.
I cant see it happening any time soon mainly due to the distance that will need to be travelled and NTFL just wont beable to produce the players and staff required to have a full time ntfl side. A regular game between SANFL v NTFL should be played yearly, or even have the premiers play each other.
