I agree and Pies were much cleaner with the ball all day. Deserved to win.
But really it is a blight on our game that such critical calls can be made so poorly.
Pies deserve to be favorites but feel like Lions do not have a weak line and they have 5 players who can kick 5+ goals on their day. McStay out hurts. Think it will be a battle of Pies defence vs Lions attack. Don't think Pies can afford any sort of shoot out.
Pretty good game. GWS ran out of legs. Pies kept their composure.
I get the calls on the umpiring, it is very hard to understand how the GWS neck tackles were missed. Moore probably should have been paid a head high too. With 3 umpires just hard to understand how these things are not paid.
Why wouldn’t Bombers have just forfeited this game? Channel 7 could have shown a replay of 1986 round 14 Roos vs Fitzroy and everyone would be spared.
Ridiculous to play a game no one wants to play.
Game is a bit of a free kick for Saints. Win it and likely play first final in Melbourne, lose it and likely play first final in Melbourne.
Don't think Saints will muck around too much with personnel and probably just look to hone the form they are in. Could be a pretty free flowing high...
Possibly the worst quarter of football I have seen by a player (or can remember). Not only did he barely touch the ball but pretty well played the last quarter for the opposition - may well have been most influential player for the Lions in the last.
I don’t know if Smith had an opponent, if he did, I didn’t see him. Regardless, the discerning football fan rates the player breaking the packs, drawing the crowd and opening up the field for the outside players.
The AFL needs to do something about the Geelong team throwing the ball. It is hard to understand how the umpires are missing it but AFL needs to either allow throwing or police it. Tonight was not fair the Geelongs opposition.
