Also use a medicine ball and toss it between yourself and a mate or if on your own, throw it against a wall instead and catch it.
If you want the 6 pack though it is really down to diet.
As a final set maybe but otherwise no. Just my opinion Arnold suggests them in his book on the same basis. They are not the foundation, just a bit of cream on the cake.
Nah 15kgs on each side (plus the bar) is about as high as I go. Biceps are a small muscle (relative to other muscle groups) so you have to focus on technique to make sure they are isolated and worked hard. You see a lot of blokes at gym 'throwing' the weights, bringing their back into it etc...
The hardest training I have ever done is boxing training. I am not talking boxercise or sparring but a lot of boxing gyms will run sessions for groups that do everything up to sparring. I have, never, ever been so totally wrecked in my life.
I have also never seen a boxer who is not toned...
192 cms, 115 kgs. Always been naturally heavy, and if I let myself go re diet I blow up like a balloon. Need to shred about 10kgs but mentally I am not up to it at the moment. Hopefully late winter, early spring I will find the motivation.
That is one of the excercies I do, lots of...
Ha ha deadies, they make you feel like your head is going to explode! Nothing better than nailing a big dead lift but it is soooo easy to get the technique wrong.
If you want big, less reps, heavier weights. I spend about 45 mins on biceps a week (one session). Depends on the excercise but say bicep curls with the Z bar, we will start with 10 kgs and work our way up to about 30kgs. Starting at 12 reps and then working down to about 6 (point of...
Ha ha nothing like the pain of starting out. Wait until you start going heavy. I have a rotator cuff problem at the moment, killing me but I am an old fart so I guess I have to put up with it.
Get some magnesium supplements (good ones), they help with muscle recovery.
How many times do you train a week? If you really want to put the muscle on you need to do 3 to 4 weight sessions a week. As others have noted, back is important, dead lifts, bent over rows, chin ups are all explosive.
You cannot neglect your legs either, along with the back they are the...
I am waiting to see what the rumoured auto version is like and then might look to get one. If you want some power but at less cost have a look at the 325. I drive one at the moment, is slow off the mark due to the weight of the engine but once it starts moving it is awesome.
I really hate...
I take iSartori H Blocker pre work out and their Creatine mix post. I was taking a Amino acid drink during the work-out but did not find it to be of any benefit.
H Blocker is great, noticeable improvement lifting weights as it blocks the formation of acids leading to fatigue. Discovered by...
effectively none. If I don't work I don't get paid (on commission).
Still I took the day off today and worked from home and no-one gives a toss so it is pretty good to have the flexibility.
Various fat burning/energy type tablets on the market. They certainly give you a kick but if you have anything like high blood pressure, give it a miss. For work-outs there are also various nitrate based kickers you can try.
Disagree on the high carb diet, unless you have a physical job or...
I get jealous when I read about you guys running etc. My knees are shot and these days running is out, hence the weight program as I need something that pushes me. That is tough sprint training, I take it it is for footy pre-season? I used to do the same sort of stuff, loved it.
Viccles...

If you add a third session then you just divide your six major body parts into 3 lots of 2:
Session one: Legs and Abs
Session two: Chest and triceps/biceps
Session three: Back and shoulders
I have been taught to work the complimentary body parts in the same session eg...
I had a look in this section and could not find anything?
Bit of both, I was a bowling pin (my PT's words) so getting the body into better shape was the priority but a lot of heavy liftings to add mass to the muscles.
Do you mean other sections in the 'other' forum?
Anyone into weights?
These days due to bad knees I am pretty much confied to gym and have found that I really enjoy weights. Tried them in the past but never really got into it, the big difference was using a personal trainer with a weight lifting back-ground.

From the tap it is not bad but in stubby form it is sort of stale. I drink for enjoyment so I will stick to beers I like to drink and work on my fitness at the gym.
Off topic but the reduction of some beers to 4.5% has made them less tasty IMO.
