From my experience most of the sports fans in New York are tourists. Its such a big transient population in NYC that alot didnt care at all about sports. I was there when the Mets were in the world series and all the Yankees stores had been converted for the world series and nobody cared in the...

    Health Depression

I have low level chronic fatigue and that can adversely affect my sleep cycle. Doxylamine is available over the counter and can help me to reset it, but you need to use it sparingly otherwise you can become reliant on it to sleep (also obviously check its fine with whatever meds you might use).

I dont often agree with Caesar but his broad point there is pretty apt. Were conditioned to chase hapiness and if your always chasing the next thing to make you happy you never will be. I would say the bit i disagree with (and it might be me not interpreting it correctly) is that we are...

I did all my tickets on stubhub. Not necessarily cheap but super effective. We did Beale Street in Memphis two nights, honestly every single bar had some insanely talented people playing, we hooked up with a group of female singers who were in the crowd and doing impromptu performances with a...

Honestly I’d just book Vegas cause that will get wildly pricey (if it isn’t already). We had our first two weeks in NYC booked and literally booked everything else on the fly.

All the usual stuff mentioned here, I’d add in heading to Coney Island and around Hoboken NJ. We got push bikes and rode across the Brooklyn bridge and out to Coney Island, was probably my favourite day in NY. Caught the train to Hoboken on a Sunday for Sunday night football and found a pretty...

In Anaheim or at Yankee stadium. We were in New York during the world series (which the Mets made not the Yankees) so did the tour, that stadium is ******* sick.

Absolutely dependent where youre going IMO. Its not just schools, yesterdays was a mall. I went there like 5-6 years ago and the gun culture in the south was pretty alarming. Its gotten substantially worse since then. I probably wouldnt go now TBH.

    Whisk(e)y Thread!

FWIW Maturation and Aging arent exactly the same thing. Aussie and Sub Continental climates (India is doing some good stuff) dont need the same maturation times as the colder Scot/Irish Whiskeys. So if you see some of the Aussie and other expressions are "only" 3-10 years old dont be put off...

Yeh Tennessee in general was sick. We stayed in Memphis got a car drive around to Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama. Was probably our lowest expectation of anywhere we went but wound up being our overall favourite place.

I ******* LOVE disney, been to all of them around the world. But 2 weeks at Disney is ALOT even the massive park and parks at Florida. I’ve said this to a few people as well but if you can stay in the Disney resort (it’s not cheap) you can come and go from the park for naps and s**t (yes even...

I don’t know how much clearer I could possibly be that I’m not talking about you but suggesting no one thinks that is wrong. In fact just outside your selective quoting I gave you a clear example of people who thought exactly that (albeit hawthorn not toorak). It’s overly simplistic to simply...

mouncey2franklin i think this might be causing some confusion. When i say "my wife and I are the only one of our contemporaries who now own a home (with a mortgage obviously) and received no help from our parents" What i mean is "All our contemporaries own homes because they got substantial...

To answer your questions No i didnt actually, i changed careers in my mid 20s Your asking if my friends who own houses work hard? Yeh they did. Did they sacrifice? Probably depends who you ask. They still travelled, they still went out, they still ate out etc etc. They sacrificed but not to...

Fwiw I didn’t really say you made that argument but to suggest that argument isn’t a lazy cliche is ridiculous. Sacrifice is such a broad term it’s ultimately meaningless. My wife and I travelled, I didn’t stay in one job (and frankly every time I left a job I got a raise), we ate out, we...

In my experience (and i guess im biased because im 35) alot more Boomers claim kids these days dont wanna knuckle down and cut the avo toast for a home than Millenials claim Boomers had it easy and could buy houses with monopoly money. Ultimately both those statements are hyperbolic and stupid...

No more or less than their parents or my wife and i did. Like, everyone who wants to buy a house needs to make some sacrifices but this idea that the only people who become home owners eat ramen 24/7/365 and live shitful lives never going to the movies or the pub is bullshit. It shouldnt be...

I’m 35 and my wife and I are the only one of our contemporaries who now own a home (with a mortgage obviously) and received no help from our parents.
