    Potato Crisps

Samboy BBQ are the best barbecue chip in the world. I actually used to get them shipped to me when I lived in the UK.

They'll want you nearby - it's a big space that looks like a city so may need help navigating their way around. You'll definitely need a break every now and then from the high decibel shrieking in a confined space. My wife and I took it in turns to go out - it sits in a big shopping mall so you...

Another vote for Kidzania. My girls loved trying out being cops, firefighters, vets, TV presenters, ice cream servers and burger makers (which they got to eat). Of course, they were giants compared to the Japanese kids but didn't care.

Many more tourists this summer. We got stopped 3 times (family of 4): getting on the airport train, outside Colosseum and at Roma Termini. Reasons? No idea - illegal immigration? terrorism? Not heavy handed but it was noticeable.

One thing I noticed this last time in Rome was the need to carry your passport with you at all times. Police doing a lot more random checks. If you don’t have it with you it’s off to the police station to prove your identity.

Probably. My wife's Italian so that part wouldn't be a problem, but generally in Sicily there are a lot of empty houses and apartments. People move away and northern Italians, who might have jobs that allow them to work part of the time remotely somewhere nice, just don't go south of Rome...

We did the same in Sicily. Three bedroom apartment in Ragusa in good condition, $25,000 AUD.

Timing is everything. We rolled into Naples last night just as the season wrapped with them as champions. Brilliant. Love footy but never get the scenes and passion like I saw last night from the whole city.

Just finished 2 weeks in Sicily. We cycled through the countryside and to most of the main cities and towns. If you’re thinking of cycling, don’t trust Google Maps! Liked both Palermo and Catania, of the cities: lots of bustling energy and great food. Agrigento was stunning - I really like...

Must do Kidzania in Tokyo. Mini city where the kids get jobs and play. Mine were police, firefighters, fast food servers. Loved it. You might be too late for sumo season but if there’s a tournament on, go. Awesome.

Yep, turn left at Norseman coming from the east. Then going to go through Gnowangerup and Kojonup on the way to family in Margaret River.

Thanks, good tips. There's a few places I want to stop at where I used to live (Whyalla, Esperance), but otherwise pretty open to trying different routes.

Yeah, we'll be doing plenty of city driving in Melbourne first. Actually, once she gets back here, she'll hardly be driving at all but good to have the hours done.

Bump. Good reading this thread. Daughter and I going to do this next year when she's on her P plates. The idea is to get the 120 hours out the way in one shot rather than me spending every weekend forever driving aimlessly round Melbourne. This way, can have a bit of an adventure and see...

    Leaving Australia to live overseas.

True, and it depends how long you plan to be there. I was moving there permanently (so I thought at the time) so wanted to have networks that weren't what I had here. I made friends through work, a cricket club in Cambridge, the local allotment. You're right about it being harder to break into...

    Leaving Australia to live overseas.

Even in English speaking countries, it's about meeting the locals. When I moved to the UK in the early 90s, a mate of mine told me "get out of London, you'll only meet other Australians." Good advice.

Congrats. Get them in the blue and gold early. I bribed my girls from about the age of 3 to attend matches with promises of chips at half time. Die hard supporters now.
