Yeah, others. And plenty of them too.
Let's face it, the MRP is a lottery and as much as I'd like to think it's not the case, it seems it does matter who you are.
You think you were on your last legs?? Our season was spluttering to a halt for weeks. But seemingly no one wanted 8th spot, which was almost comical. All I wanted was someone to knock us out of the finals so the conjecture of us making would stop. We would've beendone nothing come finals time...
Not to mention that Mitchell was playing off the half back line with a dud shoulder for the last 1/4 of the season. Of course we were full strength. ;)
Did you see our ruck department in 2008. pretty similar to what we have now, albeit we'll be looking for back up in the draft. We don't need a dominant ruck to win the midfield battle. People overrate the rucks effect on a team in modern football.
And our backline is on par, if not better than...
Don't take too much away from 2009. You over-ran us in round 22 when we were missing some pretty key players(Franko+Rough come to mind), and we had others either down on form or just too young to make a fist of it( Milne, Shiels, Savage).
Franklin, Roughead, Hodge, Mitchell, Sewell, Burgoyne...
He doesn't have to smack Lloyd around the chops to be known as tough. Wouldn't be much of a scalp anyway.
Anyone who questions Campbell Brown's toughness needs to watch more footy. He goes when it's his turn. He even goes when it isn't, and that's what makes a player tough.
Brown doesn't bolt. He get's up and walks off, making sure that he wasn't about to cop it from behind.
And Lloyd, well he's being held back by the monster known as Clinton Young.
Once again, can't see Brown running anywhere.
Can't see any bitch slapping there either?
Being associated...
Funny stuff.
Brown got up and walked away cos he knew the fight was over and he was about to be reported, he didn't run away like you say. He was just leaving the scene of the crime, so to speak.
Watch Lloyd point to the umpire and start his whinge session. Top stuff.
Seriously though, it's...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
Tell the truth Dapper.
In 2006 when Lloyd smacked Brown behind play Brown squared up later in a pack and Lloyd got up and sooked to the umpire 'did you see that, he hit me'.
Brown got 4 weeks.
This time he took a swipe over the microphone. And there was no 4 weeks...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
Have a look at this thread. You and others seem to be finding plenty.
Even a harmless press conference where a simple point was made.
But look here, yet another reference to round 22....you wouldn't know that you won the way some of you go on.
"Oh it's dirty clarkson...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
When did we say that?
If you're talking about Kennett, try again. Actually go and listen to what he said.
McGlynn, Kennedy and Willo wanted to leave because they got more security offered to them...what's so hard to understand about that?
All 3 of them knew they were...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
Look at all you princesses quoting stories about the 80's and players hitting someone. That was how it was played back then, and Essendons history is no cleaner than anyone elses.
You're probably the same people who complain about the game getting soft.
Re: Alistair Clarkson
There's more to come on the Brown saga. Our guys are very pissed at Port for what they did and how the media ran with it as us offering him up.
Kennedy wanted more opportunities. Sydney offered him 3yrs and more money. end of story.
Williams is on the decline, and with...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
You honestly believe that??? Even though he then went on to name the players who left and how that amount of players leaving a list is not ideal.
You guys need to let round 22 go.
Re: Alistair Clarkson
If he had of mentioned any other club, I could almost garantee that they wouldn't have a thread like this on their board.
It seems that round 22, and particularly what Brown and Clarkson said afterwards has really stung you guys and you're not coping too well with it...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
You so blinded by your hatred of Hawthorn and Clarkson that you're totally underestimating the fact that Clarkson is great mates with Damien Hardwick and would've no doubt heard from him about just what it was like at that time of Hardwicks career and the others who were...
Re: Alistair Clarkson
Clearly for the Essendon supporters with the chip on their shoulders.
Or perhaps they think that trading away those players was a good thing?
I bet they were spewing at the time.
Good to know other supporters are taking notice of the amount of ground he covers.
FWIW, I'm not sure that Sheedy would have Ryder on Franklin. McPhee is probably a better chance of matching him up and winning the contest.
