Recruiting AFLW Draft and Trade 2023 - Premiership demon Maddison Gay requests a trade to Essendon - 5/12

But no interesting comments from anybody who would know about getting more than 7 touches a game at the top level. Every club delisting post has stuff like that from relatives and bitter former players. Not a big deal.

    Oppo Camp Non-Essendon AFLW Thread

I don't know what you're talking about. Kicks and marks are more frequent in AFLW than AFL.

    Oppo Camp Non-Essendon AFLW Thread

It's actually not my argument. I'm just passing on the testimony of past female players who have gone on to be highly regarded administrators in women's football. People with far greater credentials and influence (than you or me) in women's football, such as Laura Kane, say there's no evidence...

...It was the 4.5 that was not a Sherrin initially. The size 5 was, of course, always a Sherrin. Oh do you have the broken finger stats from pre and post 2016?

    Oppo Camp Non-Essendon AFLW Thread

Broken bones are the fundamental issue, as explained in the above quote. They're not going to make the ball heavier, since that would revive problems solved 25 years ago. If there was a notable difference in broken bones caused by the ball in men's and women's soccer, they'd introduce different...

The smaller ball was a feature of women's footy long before AFLW.

Club Mgmt. We finally got an AFLW license!!! - Season starts last weekend of August

I don't know what the other bids said. I just know the phrase "hosting AFLW games" hasn't been used in any of the announcements about the upgrades to the Hangar, which has stood out as a little suspicious to me.

Club Mgmt. We finally got an AFLW license!!! - Season starts last weekend of August

Upgrades which they were already committed to at the time of the original bid, yet nevertheless no mention of using it to host AFLW games. Anything is possible but as far as accommodating a crowd (even if it is only 2,000) and TV production, there's no comparison between the two venues atm.

Club Mgmt. We finally got an AFLW license!!! - Season starts last weekend of August

Games could be played at Craigieburn early, late or midway through the season. I expect the Hangar would have been mentioned in the original bid if the club thought it was a suitable venue for AFLW games, and it wasn't.

Club Mgmt. We finally got an AFLW license!!! - Season starts last weekend of August

The original plan was to play home games in Craigieburn when unable to use Windy Hill. But that was for a season starting in February. With the season starting some time between August and December, there's potential for early round matches against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium or Hawthorn at the...

Footy Dept. AFLW Program led by Aysha Ward

If the coach's background in women's football is the be-all and end-all, you wouldn't be swerving off course to people in other positions. Fremantle 7-0. Trent Cooper not suitable for the job according to your criteria. You concede I'm correct, and then waste your wonderful life writing the...

Footy Dept. AFLW Program led by Aysha Ward

Either that or it's an issue of backbone rather than brains--i.e. a desire to make the popular choice over the hard call. But aside from a few cases which remain to be seen, it's worth noting how clubs have widely made pretty effective course corrections with their coaching appointments after...

Footy Dept. AFLW Program led by Aysha Ward

I'm guessing you didn't get to see St Kilda play much. There's absolutely no evidence suggesting somebody with experience in women's footy makes for a better AFLW coach. Here are some other inaugural AFLW coaches who were highly credentialed and celebrated like Searle was, and then ran their...

Here's something I had laying around. Parts of it (like the backwards N) wouldn't fly, so to speak, on an official club logo but nevertheless...
