From lurking here it seems (please correct) that the members have no voting rights or formal voice (what happens at the crows AGM?) with a structure foreign to Victorian member based clubs.
Agree that some parts of fixturing are ridiculous. AFL should be alternating home and away ie you play carlton away last time, so you get them at home next time whether thats same year or next year. I think we have not travelled to play Brisbane since 2007 or so (something crazy anyway)...
Cheney always reasonable for us as small defender but behind suckling, Birchall, Stratton. Certainly couldn't see why Melbourne had delisted him. Wish him the best with you guys who looked super impressive in the part I saw (middle second quarter)
He did withdraw from the running for the Carlton job. Perhaps he got wind of Trigg coming and thought, if I just hold off I could work for a club with a better chance of success,,,
Not saying it is good, but given that they have purchased assets which aren't performing then using them to generate a paper loss and therefore avoid afl equalization (even getting some equalization grants). It's only a paper loss.
I think you over estimate the concern the AFL has for us. I think the noise the AFL is making is to cover up secret joy that Swans are getting stronger.
I think the afl could be in for a surprise next tv rights agreement. With economic uncertainty especially overseas (and tv networks owned by overseas interests) coupled with the realization that afl needs tv more than tv needs afl I think the next broadcast agreement will be less than current...
