Opinion New AFC HQ: Stalled Indefinitely

From what I understood Theberton was considered the 'its there if we want it' option. As such the state government never stepped in. I don't think the state government ever expected the the Sanfl to be hamstrung by their move to West Lakes and for the Crows to be hampered in every attempt to...

    Opinion 2024 Round 1 Team

Absolutely. The bigger issue is he isn't really recognising talent either by replacing players who have reached a ceiling that is below the AFL standard. Murphy, Sholl, McHenry are prime examples of this. But yet, a player like Dowling is held to a different standard and must prove he has to...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

He took a cut to move to the cats because players took cuts to get him there. Thats the only reason.

This made me laugh. Described it perfectly.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Nah, see thats the type of excuses that give Nicks a pass, I know you aren't but its what the club will try and sell and the happy clappers are already on it. Oh its someone elses fault. Sack the current forward line coach.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Im certain he would pick Murphy on half a leg before he picks Dowling and Curtin

    Roast Olsen and the board.

I can't help but feel, the culture they worked so hard to build is slowly starting to be chipped away. Consistently blaming players, poor selection integrity, players left in the Sanfl with no feedback. Remember, Crouch was basically abandoned by Nicks and its no secret he had nothing to go on...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Its always everyone else. Best midfielder in the Sanfl and we refuse to acknowledge it just state he is playing well but he knows he has stuff to work on. Ok? i'll pay that, like what? spell it out to me? I wonder if Dowling has been given any feedback at all let alone anything to work on...

    Roast Olsen and the board.

The club ambassadors within every media outlet have gone to ground and are backing Nicks. Many of those have direct ties to those in the board. So even if one wanted to, no one is interested in the story.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Nicks game plan is to swamp the defence and counter attack in a swarm. The problem that has been exposed by every team is 1. Class - class will always kill you 2. Geelong, Carlton, Essendon all swarmed the forward 50 which meant we were under attack and couldn't escape because they blocked all...

    Roast Olsen and the board.

Nah, but silence tells a story. The biggest critique of the board under Chapman was everything was shrouded in silence. We had an issue we didn't say anything. This board and Silvers wanted to be as transparent with the media and fans as possible. We get no hurry to sign Nicks for 4 months...

    Roast Olsen and the board.

If it was unanimous it would have already been placed front and centre to demonstrate a united board. The fact it hasn't says all you need to know.

Couldn't agree more. This is why Nicks extension smacks of PR first thinking.

I'd say he is worse than Shaw.
  15. adelaidecrows

Opinion New AFC HQ: Stalled Indefinitely

I get the logic but how many people on the board will vote against something the ex premier of SA wants? As an experienced politician and board member he also will not vote for anything that could reflect badly on him and he would likely sway most of the board to align with his thinking every...

    Roast Olsen and the board.

Is anyone else feeling underwhelmed. He is not delivering anything. He re-signed Nicks - despite overwhelming evidence to suggest otherwise It feels like he just hides behind Silvers, delivers him talking points for PR and disappears. The board has some serious questions to answer and I'm...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

The talent on our board is very lean. PAFC maybe run by a dictator in Kochie and everything he wants he gets as he runs his mouth in the media at will, but at least he has some ability to get good people around him to help.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

For what its worth, 2020-2022 I actually think Nicks didn't do a bad job at the task that he was employed to do, That was rebuild the player culture and list. Was he the best game day coach and at selection?? no!. He made so many Rookie errors and often the same mistake appeared several times...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

He is certainly the worst coach we have granted this much grace too. Our bottom 3 coaches Shaw Sanderson Ayres Nicks I think comfortably sits in that group. It demonstrates a complete failure of our board to recognise his failures. It feels like they are ignoring his failures for PR and a...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Just an observation but we could be struggling to attract talent because Nicks is not rated within the internal coaching ranks.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Isn't a prerequisite of lockdown football is to actually lock the opposition down, not ourselves?
  22. adelaidecrows

    Roast Stop Gunstoning Curtin, morons

We don't have a lot of talls. Nicks would be desperate to have him in defence. Agree with your post though. Nicks will never run him in the midfield, at least not for his initial years.
  23. adelaidecrows

Opinion New AFC HQ: Stalled Indefinitely

One thing that is being made clear by Thebarton is that councils are not conducive to progress. They are set up to maintain a status quo. Which has its perks but we see time and time again, the state government has to be the ones who get development happening. Based on the setbacks, who knows...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Maybe the AFC are taking the AFL's lead on thinking sub standard mediocre skills will get the job done.

    Preview Changes vs Nth Melbourne

So what you are saying is that he has failed at running. lol. But he can only run to Nicks shape. So if its an overly defensive shape and thats where the ball spends most of its time, then by definition he is really not going to be running too far.
  26. adelaidecrows

Roast The Rotten Stench of the AFC

This is supposed to have been weeded out by the culture review and back room clean out. The clear problem is sycophants can run to the board for a resume pump up where they don't want to rock the boat, they don't think, they just are happy to be involved and they just do what they get told by...

    Preview Changes vs Nth Melbourne

The issue is Nicks is throwing players under the bus. Firstly Sholl was the answer against Fremantle. He subsequently wasn't. Got dropped the following week. So Nicks basically painted the loss against Fremantle against Sholl. Nicks and McHenry have said that his job is to keep the shape over...

    Preview Changes vs Nth Melbourne

I don't think they will debut until after the showdown so we could be 1-7. But I wouldn't put it past Nicks to bring Curtin in, have him play at FB and get soundly beaten by his opponents so Nicks can banish him to the Sanfl for the remainder of the year.
