    VFL New League Idea

The underage alignment is certainly not a deal breaker for me. Understand the concern from the remaining 'big clubs' in the current VFL. Be interested to see who takes a lead on this and whether there is a Victorian solution or a national one. W.A have screwed it up on multiple occasions to the...

    VFL New League Idea

Some fair points and if this path was chosen there would need to be some serious thought around some of these issues. I guess the first thing, is if the AFL bought in reserves, the VFL would still be positioned at the same level as WAFL and SANFL as those states would also have AFL reserves...

    VFL New League Idea

Interesting balance isn't it. Try and draw fans to the AFL reserves who might not otherwise attend the AFL games for whatever reason and if the games are on the same day you then lose the hardcore fans who would like to watch both, but if it's on a different day you create player break type...

    VFL New League Idea

I'm guessing / assuming he means those clubs would have a league and underage side so it would essentially replicate the WAFL and SANFL structures as a pathway to being drafted.

    VFL New League Idea

Spot on. Have seen others elsewhere suggest to play as curtain raisers. Personally I'm with you on this. I enjoyed watching Footscray v Richmond this year at Footscray, watching the next level. Also went to Richmond v Casey at Punt Rd and as a 40 something footy fan it didn't 'feel the same'...

    VFL New League Idea

Some well thought ideas, whether or not people actually agree with it all. My biggest query is around what is best for the VFL vs best for the AFL. Up north Brisbane, GWS, Sydney and Gold Coast players can't get decent competition at the next level. In W.A and S.A, competitions at the same...

    ABC to drop Phil Cleary?

Be great if true.......to think Sam Newman was in trouble for being overly negative (amongst other things) on the radio, Cleary makes Newman sound like a walking advertisement for football today.

    VFL versus WAFL

In reality the VFL is probably better than WAFL now. Playing quality outside the AFL listed players resonably close, but over here there is almost one AFL team to each VFL team, where in W.A there are only two AFL clubs feeding 9 WAFL teams. So purely on the number of ALF players lining up each...
