Strange set of circumstances. Was hoping Alja could've beat Garcia, but never would've expected her to have played against such a low ranked player, but glad that we've got a deciding doubles match.
Seems very suss that the much higher ranked Cornet & Ferro aren't playing instead. If Alja does win this, and Barty/Stosur wins the doubles, they only have themselves to blame lol, but who knows, maybe Alja could've beaten those 2 as well.
Really disappointing result. Was still looking like it was gonna be a big challenge even after we went up 2-1. Home ground advantage and the clay surface probably pushed them over the line.
Hopefully Kyrgios will be fine, if so, it should be him and Tomic in the singles. Not sure who will partner Groth, probably Peers, but iirc, we've rarely brought in specialist doubles players since the Woodies, except for Guccione, who started as a singles player, so we might throw in Millman or...
Exactly, her comments were inexcusable, she should never have brought ethnicity into it, I hope that she makes a more sincere apology by admitting that that it was wrong to single out a person's ethnicity in regards to their apparentl 'un-australian" behaviour, but not holding my breath.
