"Wee" Matthews. You'd have to listen to an Andrew Rule and Tony Wilson (author of 1989: The Great Grand Final) podcast to find out why his teammates gave him that nickname (5.50).
Black sheep in footy boots. Part 1
Andrew Rule and former Reserves player Tony Wilson (son of Ray Wilson) tell a good story about Fred Cook who was watching his son play U19's down at Rosebud. During the game he spotted a barmaid who he knew from years earlier, so he went over for a chat. While they were watching the game he...
He was tough, a tremendous mark and very consistent, one of my favourites from back then. By luck in 1968 I was able to see him every home game. My local clubs fixture lined up with Hawthorns. Played in the morning then watched the seniors play. The following week, played, rushed home, caught...

Assuming that the Eagles take Reid, if Curtin is available he should be our pick. Being able to play back, mid or forward means that he could become our modern version of Gary Ayres. If either Reid or Curtin get the go home bug, then a swap of players is probably our best chance of getting Reid.
