Congratulations on the win.
I wrote this on the Pies board. You guys are the most 'efficient' side I've seen in the last few years. The way you move on the spread and seem to get that handball out when you're in trouble is just amazing. I think the Hawks are one of the few sides who can move...
Yep, agree with all points. :thumbsu:
And I'm not confident with the Lake/Cloke matchup. Despite beating the Bulldogs convincingly for years now, Cloke has never been able to get off the Lake leash. And Brian is looking the fittest he has been in probably three seasons. Will be another...
Great ins for you guys. Going to be very hard to beat with that lineup. Birchall sub?
Really looking forward to seeing how far we've come in the last two weeks against the best. I feel if we can get close this time round, we'll give the finals a bit of a shake but consistency has been a major...
Im entitled to an opinion. Maybe a discussion forum isn't for you then? Love how every Hawks fan bags certain players, but when a Pies fan states an opinion on a player, it's 'trolling'. Mind boggling.
Look at Maxwell's GF efforts in 2010. Look at Clinton Young's yesterday. Having two Ryan Lonie's in the same side hurts you on the biggest stage.
Don't see why the OP is pointing the finger at Roughead, who is playing the hardest role in football these days.
He plays well against the smaller bodies, no doubt about that. He really struggles on the big power forwards so no surprise on his performance yesterday. I also think Sam Reid played OK.
Ben Johnson returning has allowed him to fulfill this role in the side. Johnno has been one of the most underrated backs for us in the last few seasons. We'll be more than fine down back.
Shaw will play a defensive role on Gibson in my opinion. Did the job on Hardingham last night (yeah, it was only Hardingham) but I suspect they did that in preparation for Gibson. If we let him fly third man up all night long, the ball is going to go from one end to the other in no time.
One...
Congratulations on the win guys. :thumbsu:
I love how both sides played free flowing football and the game was a hell of a lot more open than the Preliminary Final last year. Your midfield on the night was fantastic, as it was the battle we had to win if we were to come out on top.
I see this...
Re: Hawks vs Pies - Preliminary Final - Changes & Discussion
I'd go with that as a Hawks fan. Though running a defensive tag doesn't necessarily mean success. The Dockers tried this in round 23 with Crowley and Leon took him to the cleaners.
The important thing for the defensive tag is to not...
Re: Hawks vs Pies - Preliminary Final - Changes & Discussion
Totally agree. These days, it's all about pressure and the contested ball winning ability of each side, not the pace. You can be the quickest team on earth but without the ball, you are useless.
Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge, Lewis...
Re: Hawks vs Pies - Preliminary Final - Changes & Discussion
I'll gladly post it here and the mods can remove it if they like. :thumbsu:
Some things in our favor:
- Hawthorn coming off two straight games against the Cats and Swans. Couldn't get two harder hitting teams in the...
Re: Hawks vs Pies - Preliminary Final - Changes & Discussion
Hope you don't mind me posting here.
I posted the positives for us on our board but will change my approach here. Positives for the Hawks:
Mitchell, Franklin, Rioli. I chose these three due to their X-factor, past form against the...
My favorite player outside of Collingwood. :( Absolutely devastated for you guys. You all must be filthy at the football gods, your injury list is so long. :thumbsd:
Wishing Buddy a quick recovery and I pray it is nothing serious.
