AFLW AFLW 2022 - general discussion

That's wrong, because the AFL gave Richmond pick one so that Richmond can get Conti, while the bulldogs get some form of compensation. Conti wouldn't of left if the bulldogs would get zero compensation, hence why she didn't join via regular expansion signings the first day free agency opened up...

AFLW AFLW 2022 - general discussion

Yes, they did, but they didn't do it in-between trade periods. They either gave it before or after the trade period. And the expansion clubs weren't meant to be able to participate in the second trade period (Big names, big moves: 2019 AFLW Trade Period preview) The pick 1 was excessive and was...

AFLW AFLW 2022 - general discussion

No, 2019 was the first year there was two trade periods. Geelong did have the first two picks the previous year, but those were given to them before the trade period started (likely because Geelong and North Melbourne had stricter rules for direct signing, and Geelong weren't able to sign as...

AFLW AFLW 2022 - general discussion

Yes. The AFL gave Richmond pick #1 during the middle of the trade period under the provision they must use it to trade it for a player (Conti). Richmond didn't have pick 1 at the start of the trade period, and after 4 players from the bulldogs left to expansion teams (the limit a club could...

AFLW AFLW 2022 - general discussion

Man this is just so frustrating. It was understandable the first couple of years, but the team has been struggling for years now and still getting raided the most. There are no positives in any of this. All it does is hurt those who stay. And the problem is the AFL cares more about the...

Women's Footy AFLW Bulldogs - 2022 Round 1 vs Demons

Was just about to post this. Can't believe this. Just shattering she couldn't even play in the practice match, let alone an actual game. Also, as for not being able field a team, that is just unbelievable. Yeah covid, I know, but the AFL have really screwed up trying to expand so fast that list...

Preview Changes for the Mighty Dogs into the Grand Final

Hey, just dropping in to say good luck tomorrow. It's such a shame some players will miss out. Every player deserves a medal if their team wins the premiership. Especially the past couple of seasons where players have to sacrifice so much and do so much, and not even have a state league to play...

    Toast Lin Jong retires

Hey fellas. Just wanted to drop in and wish Jongy the best of luck in retirement and that I've enjoyed watching him over the past decade. I have no doubt he would've at least played double the amount of games he has now if not for injuries and that some of those downsides to his game wouldn't be...

Women's Footy AFLW Bulldogs - 2022 Round 1 vs Demons

Sad to see Angie Gogos and Lauren Spark retiring. Both premiership players and foundation players, and have been solid throughout their time here. I guess injury eventually got the better of both of them, especially Gogos who's been crueled by injuries due to her size (and part of the reason she...

Game Day Round 7 v Tigers

Siren sounded as he kicked it whilst getting booed. I don't blame him for missing that. Probably could've taken more time in hindsight, but what can you do.

Game Day Round 7 v Tigers

Cordy looks so much better when he's not outsized.

West has been pretty selfish this quarter. Keeps taking the shot when he has options.

    Preview Changes v Tiggers - Round 7 2021

Well he does basically nothing in a tall forward line. It's almost impossible for him to effective with the current forward line structure. His only bet is to somehow recapture his best as an inside mid. Not that I think that's likely to happen, but I think that's the only way unless forward...

    Preview Changes v Tiggers - Round 7 2021

Well there might be a spot for him now that Dunkley is out. But he needs to be in top form and will probably need to contend with a few others for that spot. Does appear as though it's inside mid or bust now given the number of tall forwards and general defenders.

Opinion Naughton is a decent forward

That is true, but I feel that you are going well enough that you can afford to experiment, with some potential pay-off to be even better, if it comes off. While I do agree it is preferable to have Naughton do a pre-season there first, let's remember that he bas basically a ready-made key...

Opinion Naughton is a decent forward

I'm just talking a 1-2 week experiment here. If it works, he can stay in defence, and if not, he can go back up forward and stay there. Not once did I indicate he should be a swingman who is constantly shifting back and fourth between attack and defence.

Opinion Naughton is a decent forward

Well, it'd be the same structure, just with different personnel. Schache's workrate has improved massively since last year, and given Bruce's best game last year was with Schache as the second tall, we do have some evidence that if Schache keeps his workrate up, that him and Bruce can be...

Opinion Naughton is a decent forward

I think a lot of people forget just how good Naughton is as a defender. I remember from the very first pre-season match he played he was an automatic lock. I'd say given Schache and JUH (or even Hannan, who is building form as a 3rd tall marking forward) are playing well in the VFL, perhaps try...

    Roast Our Medical Staff

So something interesting Jon Ralph said about the Jong injury last night is that his hamstring tendon was used for his ACL recovery, so that might be the root cause of Jong's hamstring issues these past few years. The main injury that has plagued him since the ACL was the hamstring tendon, and...

Women's Footy AFLW Bulldogs - 2022 Round 1 vs Demons

Great 1st quarter today. Kicked some good goals with the breeze, so let's hope the tiges can't make the most of it. If their talls are nullified, doggies legspeed should be too much for them.

    AFLW North vs Dogs

Inexperience seems to be what's mainly hurting the side today, with young players not setting up correctly and lack of composure at times. I suppose this is to be expected, and other than those things, the girls are going ok given the roos haven't really made the most of the clearance dominance...

Women's Footy AFLW Bulldogs - 2022 Round 1 vs Demons

New coach and solid gameplan. Development of some talented players who've been around for a couple years. Some good positional changes, with Huntington being a great focal point up forward, Lochland really complementing Blackburn's speed in the midfield, and Lynch down back (albeit recruited...
