    Past #1: Jack Mahony - drafted w #34 in '17 ND - delisted end '23 - 40 NM games/17 NM goals - thx Mahns

The problem with Mahony is he has a brilliant football brain, if he had the body of a Bont or a Cripps or a Carey. He needs to better understand how to use his size to advantage. Play front and centre, not be in positions where the quick kick is going to be dumped on his head and he is going to...

    Past #28: Kayne Turner - pick #25 in '14 RD - delisted end '22 - re-listed w/ #39 in '22 RD - delisted end "23 - 111gm/58gl - thx Kayno

As long as three of them are not in the same team. Sugar was back to his best today. Played his role perfectly and got back to hurting some bodies. If he keeps doing that he stays in. The mistake was that at times our mids kicked to him. We have 5 forwards, at any given time, who are more likely...

Past #16: Aiden Bonar - drafted by GWS #11 '17 ND - traded to NM end '19 - 25 NM games - thx Bon

Just shanked his kicks, missed targets by miles. Defensively was mostly ok but those no pressure passes were cringy.

Past #17: Lachie Young - NM trade #63 for LY in '20 trade period - delisted end '23 - 39 NM games / 1 NM goal - thanks Lachie

Young has been good this year at half back. Perez is a natural half-back/back pocket, Taylor a forward, he should have taken Zhurrhar's role on the weekend. Both have been playing on the wing. I know Polley has been much maligned by the club but I thought he plays that wing role pretty well. Run...

Past #7: Jack Ziebell [Part II] - retires post-RFC game/280gm&183gl/6yr captain - Shinboner - assaulted post-RFC game& in hospital - get well soon JZ

Massive congrats Ziebs. Has played all over the ground and has been a fantastic leader through thick and thin. Not afraid to face the media despite the various shitstorms that have happened over the last few years. Puts his body on the line and can turn a game when he is on. True Shinboner!

    Past #18: Shaun Atley - delisted end '21 - 237 NM games / 44 NM goals - thanks Ats

Lloyd was a dog of a player, would happily cut off a team-mate to make sure he got the goal.

    Past #37: Kyron Hayden - delisted end '22 - 12 NM games/ 0 NM goals - thanks Ronny

Anyone know what happened to Kyron on the weekend? Didn't play VFL or AFL. Did he get injured in the warm-up?

Past #42: Tom Campbell - delisted end '21 - 12 NM games / 7 NM goals - 2019 NM VFL John Law Medallist - thanks Soup

Ripping to see a big man from North taking a few contested marks

Past #43: Aaron Hall - Shinboner #1013 retires after 58 NM games - Thanks Aaron

Gee I would be interested to know what positional changes you think we could have made which would have changed those results given our fixture and the current injury list. Hall has been good. Not sure if Ziebs would have offered much more in the front half or on the ball. Turner has improved...

Past #42: Tom Campbell - delisted end '21 - 12 NM games / 7 NM goals - 2019 NM VFL John Law Medallist - thanks Soup

Certainly looked a lot better not having Larkey in the ruck. Larkey owned the F50 with his tackling pressure. If he can clunk a few marks with Goldy, X and Tommy rotating through there we look a lot better

Past #7: Jack Ziebell [Part II] - retires post-RFC game/280gm&183gl/6yr captain - Shinboner - assaulted post-RFC game& in hospital - get well soon JZ

That's been his problem right from the start, it's been a really poor part of his game and the opposition knows that once he commits to the contest, they will be +1 as Jack hits the deck and takes an hour to stand up again. He is ok in the air and can be really damaging by foot. (can also win a...

Past #26: Tarryn Thomas - Roo until end '24

Got to play him forward, we have a dearth of backmen and a queue for developing mids. What we don't have is proven forwards who can support Larkey. A fit and firing TT goes some way towards rectifying that problem. I like the idea of him switching with Stevo on the wing but clearly you need your...

Past #10: Ben Cunnington - will retire from the AFL after * game - 238 games/95+ goals/2x Syd Barker Medalist/Shinboner - thanks for everything Cunners

Got to work harder as a team. When Cunners was getting tagged then Jedi or Ziebs or Goldy or Turner should have been putting Deboer on his arse at every opportunity.

Past #7: Jack Ziebell [Part II] - retires post-RFC game/280gm&183gl/6yr captain - Shinboner - assaulted post-RFC game& in hospital - get well soon JZ

It might be more in the middle of their career, Leigh Matthews and Matthew Lloyd were still kicking 60-70 goals a season into their thirties, Quinlan and Locket both cracked the ton in their thirties. I know it's about opportunity and time period but I think when players get older they need to...

Past #7: Jack Ziebell [Part II] - retires post-RFC game/280gm&183gl/6yr captain - Shinboner - assaulted post-RFC game& in hospital - get well soon JZ

I think Turner is annoying because he gets the ball in kickable distance and then has previously lacked the confidence to go for his shots, instead trying to pass it off and making a mess of it. Also, not sure I would be comparing Turner to Carey... in any statistic, not exactly a fair or...

Past #6: Taylor Garner - delisted end '21 - 49 NM games/37 NM goals - go well Garns

He's only 26, can take a grab, kick a goal and put pressure on in the forward line. If he can get some continuity we will be better for it. Every club carries a few players who are speculative in some way or another, especially if they have shown that they can contribute at the highest level...

    Past #1: Jack Mahony - drafted w #34 in '17 ND - delisted end '23 - 40 NM games/17 NM goals - thx Mahns

Plays like a true CHF. Hits up at the contest and gets to all the right places a power forward should be. Unfortunately he is built like a rover. We need a big bastard with Jack's football nouse bringing the ball to ground where Jack can collect and distribute. Smart footballer for sure.

Past #19: Josh Walker - drafted #23 '11 RD (GFC) - traded to BLFC end '15 - signed by NM as DFA end '19 - 54 NM gms/6 NM gls

You play your best contested mark at CHF. I think he should be playing there but I think they will put him back. #NMFClogic

    Past #37: Kyron Hayden - delisted end '22 - 12 NM games/ 0 NM goals - thanks Ronny

I hate that when he gets the ball we have the usual suspects lining up for a sideways or backwards pass. I love that he ignores them and looks for a forward option. More of this mentality please.

Past #10: Ben Cunnington - will retire from the AFL after * game - 238 games/95+ goals/2x Syd Barker Medalist/Shinboner - thanks for everything Cunners

Perhaps this is a good example of old-school footy having something that new science got wrong. Don't take champions off the ground. Leigh Matthews would "rest" in the forward line and kick goals when he wasn't racking up clearances in the centre. Rotations might be great for some players but...

Past #32: Mason Wood - 65 NM games/76 NM goals - delisted end '20 - SSP selection for STK '21 - GL Mase

Wood will play at some point but he is not starting in round 1. He needs to kick a bag in the VFL, hold some marks and make a few tackles stick. He's got the tuning circle of Sandilands and the tackling prowess of JMac.

Best value for money by a long way. Perhaps Polec was the smoke and mirrors to get Pittard to North?

Past #6: Taylor Garner - delisted end '21 - 49 NM games/37 NM goals - go well Garns

Without knowing what happened there seems to be a lot of under-the-bus judgement going on here. Let's wait and back our own until we get a clearer picture.

Past #32: Mason Wood - 65 NM games/76 NM goals - delisted end '20 - SSP selection for STK '21 - GL Mase

He struggled with the dew on the ground, and the absolutely shiitful delivery. I lost count of the number of times we bombed it on top of Brown's head when he was outnumbered 3-1. Should have been looking for the free north player. We know he can play but has his limitations.
  27. HongKongRoo

    Past #18: Shaun Atley - delisted end '21 - 237 NM games / 44 NM goals - thanks Ats

It's been great to see Atley run and gun a bit. He's much more dangerous charging forward, breaking lines and hitting up targets than doing loopy backward handpasses.
