Well at the end of the day the photographer is there for a reason. Rightly or wrongly, he/she is documenting the event - doing what they're getting paid to do. It's a truly heartbreaking moment, and it's the money shot for the day. You could say the same for millions of other photos in the world...
I'm kind of in the view that his ego is trying to steal the show when he talks about himself.
That said, I'm not in his position so it's probably not right for me to judge.
I'll still never forget his 138* down here in Hobart last year in the One Dayer. Just so happened to be his highest score too. Single handedly won that match on his own and pulled the series back to a draw with Sri Lanka.
He even scored the same in the Shield final down here in 2011 with NSW...
