Could there be a leadership challenge if the Coalition have swings against in all seats?

Is there anything to stop say, Xenephon not getting elected in the state elections, so forcing the person who has taken over his seat in federal to resign and Nick goes back into federal politics? Or are there things in place to stop this from happening?
