I don't run anymore. If we have running as part of our workout at CrossFit I always hop on the assault bike instead. I also don't do box jumps anymore (unless it's a comp and I have to). I just step up and down. Double unders are the next thing to go next, as much as I love them.
There is an Australian Sports Nutrition shop in my local shopping centre. I go in there and browse occasionally but I agree with the sentiments that you don't really need that much. I use protein powder, creatine, a magnesium supplement and a greens powder in my protein smoothie each day. That's it.
Uh yeah. That's why it's called CrossFit. It's a measure of your fitness over a range of areas. If you're a good runner but not a lifter then no you're not going to win the CrossFit Games.
And as for height it evens itself out over the events. As a short-statured person I especially struggle...
I had a massive one in my quad/upper thigh area yesterday afternoon while doing sandbag carries. I think it was probably because it was the first time in a week I had trained so I possibly overdid it a bit.

I tore my calf muscle a few years ago which I think is the cause of the tightness. Not really sure what you mean by addressing it. I've been to the physio and had work done on it as well as the stretching that he told me to do.
Mine disappeared with lots of stretching exercises and rolling a golf ball under the heel. I'm a bit wary about overusing my foot and it reoccuring so I opt to use the air bike rather than running when it is programmed at CrossFit. Plus the air bike is much better for knees than running.
