This season was a dumpster fire.

I don't mind it. We need talented bats as have been playing hacks.

Johnson would have to be close to top of the tree when it comes to next test bowler.

I know we are missing Fraser, Carey, Johnson and Head but there has to be better options. I'm not a fan of picking a number 8 purely for their batting. Manentis bowling is fine, but I'd rather we look to find a player with potential in that spot to be a long term FC player.

The sooner we move on from Carder, Lehmann, Kelly at 4 (far out), Nielsen at 6 (ugh - he's a 7), Manenti (has to be better spinners out there) and Doggett the better.

Sam Elliot looks like a real talent. Sutherland, Perry and Elliot probably my favourite Victorian prospects. Kellaway and Murphy close behind. That's discounting Pucovski who we all hope can become the test player we need. Victoria producing top talent.

I think it looks like a pretty strong squad this year IMO. Agree batting looks a little unsettled. But theres a number of unknowns like will Smith take his grade form into shield for a strong second change at this level? What do new bats, unconvincing bats and largely untried bats do - Brazell...
