From what I remember, all it did was give the team bowling first an extra batsman as they'd sub out a bowler once he'd bowled his ten, and as there wasn't as much point bringing in a bowler for a batsman the teams would name an extra batsman as the sub (they had to name it before the toss) and...
I just mean that they've been pretty poor for most of the tournament but managed to come good just enough to make it. When I say 'shouldn't be there' I mean that more in the 'vibe of it' rather than on strict mathematical probabilities. If you know what I mean.
To be fair they shouldn't be there at all, they've been pretty ordinary for most of the season, but it's nice having both Wade and Short back in the team. Short's little Indian holiday might have been just the thing
I like how the Hurricanes were the last team not to have a distinct advantage (compared to the seasons coming after) for finishing first, and the first team to be disadvantaged (compared to previous seasons) for finishing fourth. Just one of those quirks I guess.
So there's an even greater chance this year of a team being s**t for most of the tournament, scraping into the finals and then winning the whole thing.
Hasn't the national captain generally captained their state side on the rare occasions that they've played Shield in the past? Or am I remembering wrongly?
First thing, apparently the reason the final is being held at such a weird time is because of a reality TV show, which is so absurd I don't even have the words, and secondly, the finals format needs to change to the old VFL final four system, it's ridiculous that the Hurricanes made it to the...
I went to Hobart for a game last year, it was horribly one sided as the Hurricanes got thrashed, but on the bonus side of things it ended early so the Pontville pub was still open for a feed on the way back up the highway :thumbsu:
Have every intention of travelling into Launceston for the game...
Cricket is the only sport where you can talk about anywhere in the country and have a genuine conversation about, as opposed to the dick measuring contest you inevitably get into if you mention the wrong football code on the wrong side of the border
I like the idea of extending the amount of games played amongst the existing teams, and having them play in other centres (such as the Strikers on the GC, the Thunder in Canberra, and Hobart in Launceston (which will be funny because I also reckon they'd get bigger crowds)), but I also like the...
I've always found it interesting that we use Test statistics to measure one day (and now T20) players when they really don't describe the same thing. Even describing the result of a game seems wrong, in that one team could make 0/250 (eh, it's a difficult wicket to score off or something), the...
