Love the Puc, but he probably gets paid heaps to not play cricket, more than test players from other nations, even when he's in rehab, so why would be want to retire and give that up. Decision should be taken out of his hands, genuinely dangerous.
Reckon this is the way to go too, BBL becomes what ODI cricket in January used to be with the tri-series', remember end of school holidays was the ODIs and had a bit of a carnival atmosphere to it all, probs the best way forward for the BBL.
Scorchers and Sixers seem to have really built a brand, or at least something their supporters can recognise, seem to have kept the same few players too, no surprises they're successful teams that draw crowds.
yeah it was a booming comp, and CA decided to extent it, and also put games behind paywalls, including exclusive prime-time matches which weren't on FTA. They killed it really, and there's no getting it back to what it was, best thing they can do it improve the quality of the comp and hopefully...
* it was so big a few years back, had decent crowds throughout, 80k at the G for the Melbourne derby. Shame it's declined so much, it's important for Australian cricket domestically if it's doing well. I can't see it ever getting back to those heights again though.
Heartbreaking stuff about Puc, surely needs to seriously consider giving the game away, concussion is still an issue that is being researched and who knows what long term effects it can have on an individual basis.
Hard to believe we had 80-90k at the MCG for a BBL match a few years back (I know two home teams, no covid etc), what the hell has happened to this league, CA should have just left it alone.
