    as you were saying?

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

Turn out Davester couldn't have been more correct. Bedford and hunt had career seasons and Jackson made the AA squad. Meanwhile, Grundy was a crab.

#4 James Harmes – traded to Bulldogs. Thanks for 'that' kick. You know the one.

A future 3 is just about as low as you can get

#23: James “Jordan Jones” Jordon. Farewell.

pick 39 surely goes straight to Adelaide for McAdam. they may want 33

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

And don't worry I agree. I was never a Grundy fan. I don't rate him as a player let alone a player to be taking time away from the great Max. But the typical 'getting punched in the mouth' line doesn't apply here. Even in the pre-season games Grundy wasn't playing majority ruck.

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

I agree. but also with a dodgy forward line that apparently Gawn was going to help secure. It was all a giant mess.

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

But Grundy was told that he'd be playing majority ruck so that's where the misleading comes in. That's not speculation either, that's what he was told.

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

Thanks. I don't really care if we don't find another ruck to replace him as I think Verrall is going to be good. But I suspect guys like Koschitzke, Khamis, Chol, Gresham etc. all disregarded Melbourne out of fear of Grundy/Dunstan treatment. This is 100% speculation though :) These 4 players...

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

Well we didn't get the most out of Grundy. And as the media are now saying some players don't want to come here. If we don't get Matt Flynn, that's why. Players don't want to come to Melbourne because Goodwin over promises. These are facts. You can deal with the facts in any way you wish.

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

It's true. we've brought in some guns over the years. But I think we shouldn't be promising anything to any player. Just 'we want you on the list, if all works out we envision you here in this position etc. but footy is a business, you in?'

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

The proof is in the pudding though now that other rucks around the league don't want to come here out of fear of being 'promised the world, but play for Casey'. An enjoyable bump. Goodwin made the bed by overpromising and is now suffering the consequences. No wonder players aren't wanting to...

The link was posted in the other main draft board. But it was on 'On the couch'.

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

So now Jay Clark and Jon Ralph have come out and said that players aren't coming to Melbourne because they get promised the world at Melbourne but end up playing at Casey. I'm glad I called it out when I started seeing a trend in what Goodwin started promising to players. First Dunstan, then...

#14 Michael Hibberd – retired. Thank you Pig ❤️

I sort of wished he went 1 more year. he's still our best lockdown small defender...?

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

his last game for the club should've been 10 weeks ago, but apparently Goodwin is a genius for dropping him. But then this 'genius' was also the same game that brought this spud straight back into the team.

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

There were plenty of people that were highly questionable of how it was going to work. Highly questionable.

Yep! But keep it on the down low :)

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

How cringe-y was the 'tap brothers' meme's that were coming out in pre-season. I said at the time that I didn't think it would work. This has given me the confidence to be more outspoken in my opinions. lol

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

Who on earth actually thought bringing Grundy in was a good idea? Like this makes me angry. Why did we need to see another week of this spud?
  20. danster168

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

No way do WCE do that. it's not even remotely close. Grundy is worth very little in terms of draft picks.
  21. danster168

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

Do you think we'll trade him or keep Grundy?
  22. danster168

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

lol what do you mean? I'd rather have Joel Smith up forward and Petty back than Grundy in the team. I haven't wanted Grundy in the team since the Essendon match in round 5 where he got pummelled. I've been pretty consistent on the anti-Grundy train.
  23. danster168

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

I respectfully disagree. I've never seen anything from Grundy. I'd rather develop Will Verrall who is looking pretty good at vfl level and throw the cash to get a decent player into the club.

#6 Brodie Grundy – Melbourne legend

I'm honestly not sure what made you think this way? He hasn't slowed down at all and it was purely role. Gawn has another 3 years left in him minimum. He has the body frame where I think he can play to 35.
  25. danster168

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

Dude, come on. credit where credit is due. You asked for proof and I gave it to you. The story was about trading Grundy, not about what he was told in the off-season. So it's not a big story. It's clearly fact. Have you got proof that Grundy was told he would be playing 50/50 or playing mostly...

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

"It's different to the DREAM THAT THEY SOLD HIM in the off-season" - Barrett "He was SOLD that Gawn would play more forward and Grundy would play ruck". - Lloyd. "The SELL to get Grundy out of Collingwood i.e promising him the ruck role" - Barrett. "What he was spoken to about and what it's...

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

I have no issues with not giving Dunstan a game. I have issues with bringing him into the club and pumping up his tyres saying 'we want you go play an important role for us' etc. And it seems Goodwin did the same thing with Grundy saying he'd be playing majority ruck. Which never happened.
  28. danster168

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

Nah I think that would be fine. Grundy has never been given the solo ruck role though and Dunstan has never really been given a go. This is not to say that I think he deserves to be best 22 but don't you think it's highly unusual for Dunstan to leave stkilda because he wasn't being given a go...
  29. danster168

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

Obviously best 22 spots are never guaranteed but players that want opportunity will be having extensive discussions about their role for the team etc. Like when Matt Crouch is looking for a new club, do you think him and his manager are going to go to a club where he is considered purely...

    #27 Luke Dunstan – retired

I think the evidence is there. there was that online documentary where Goody, Tim Lamb, Dunstan and his manager were all in the same room talking about his role etc. It was pretty clear that they selling him a best 22 role. The link to the doc has been posted in this thread. but now Grundy has...
