If the west stop supporting Ukraine and Russia ever break through the lines, the best thing Poland and the Baltic countries could do is enter Ukraine immediately and wipe the Russians out when they are depleted and before they had a chance to dig in.
I think the sad thing is that they would just use them like the released Wagner prisoners to identify the Ukrainian firing positions. Point a gun at them and tell them to head that way or we will shoot you.
I don't really understand how the mercenary aspect of Wagner holds up. Lots of cash in it for Prigohzin and a few others at the top but the run of the mill soldier left between a rock and a hard place. Prigohzin can cut a deal to exile to Belarus, the family of all the Wagner soldiers in Russia...
Russia has relied on that premise way too much hence the incursions that basically just strolled through the border because Russia didn't even bother to defend it.
I think Ukraine would be behind it all, with the knowledge of the US. Bloody their nose a little and they have to divert troops and...
Russia has a big population so would have a heap of people in prison but that 40,000 prisoners figure within Wagner quoted from the other day is insane. There would be a few people with long sentences that would decide to roll the dice but can't imagine there were that many "volunteers".
It would have been about the Dirlewanger Brigade. The Nazis released a heap of pyschos from prison and gave them their own SS unit and used them to hunt people down behind the lines.
I stumbled across these guys on youtube. Have no idea of their affiliations, I suspect they are a lot more hardcore than their youtube content but they collate all the bits and pieces of footage from across social media about Ukraine each day and this Aussie guy popped up on it.
