I found that playing a few hours of solos where you just drop in the hottest parts of the map and just try for kills improved my aim dramatically. If you're spending 20 minutes without getting in a gunfight only to die in the top handful then your aim will probably not improve much

New map seems ok. Very big, very spacey. Mid game is impossible without a rifle and at least a 4x

had this problem, it was because when I first started playing I tried to jump straight into a "join friends" game instead of doing the tutorial solo first. Have you done the tutorial? I don't think it even drops you in a server until after the first couple cut scenes.
