    Preview Changes/Preview – Round 7 vs. Richmond

why do we always end up with a forward line that is too tall and too slow, then we have to wait several weeks for goody to figure out that our best set up is and has always been 2 tall forwards plus fristch and the small brigade. why , whyyyyyyyyyyyyy at this point i don't even care who the 2...

    Preview Changes/Preview – Round 5 vs. Brisbane

Yeh I also noticed Billings had a few meek tackle attempts, they really stood out, Ben Brown looked more likely to stick multiple tackles last night

Review Dees v Port West Horsham: Good, Bad and Fugly

Reminds me of 2021, instead of panicking and going full throttle trying and catch up in 5 minutes (like we have the last 2 years) - staying calm and working into the game, also running out games more strongly so far this year

Player Watch #6: Caleb Windsor – the kid just has 'it'

Love how his instinct is to move the ball aggressively and break through the defence, looks like a really smart footballer

Billings has been named on the bench again, so sub status unknown

As soon as Brown kicks a couple o' snags we'll all be back on his bandwagon* (*until he gets out bodied in the next contest)

    Preview Round 1 - changes/preview v. Western Bulldogs

IF, big IF, Tmac is actually fit (is he?) then I could see a world where he could take over the Tomlinson role and it would be a minor upgrade as he is taller and stronger so I could see upside IF he is fit (helping to release both Lever and May to intercept more). Reality is Tmac is probably...

Mega Thread General MFC Discussion Part IV – #lateoutwatch

I haven't renewed yet either for similar reasons, and since we've won the flag the clubs mindset seems to have changed from we need you and we love you, to well yeh this kind of stuff we're seeing. Couple of issues for me, the first to be fair is not really in the clubs control, but there is...

Exactly this, don't see Geelong running around trying to be Collingwood, yet they're a hugely respected and strong club both on and off the field for years and years. This childish bigger is better attitude has moved into bizarre territory now

    Preview Round 1 - changes/preview v. Western Bulldogs

This was so nice, other teams probably position themselves differently since 2021 to stop us from doing this as well. i dont know if theres any way to measure this, but the last couple of years it feels like the majority of the time we have the clogged up forward line and the opposition have...

    Preview Round 1 - changes/preview v. Western Bulldogs

Rivers obviously won't be pinpointing passes through the corridor, but yeah i agree he does have the ability to take the game on with ball in hand, gain 15 or so metres and finish with strong long kicks. could become a good old fashioned line breaker if we wanted to use him regularly in that...

    Preview Round 1 - changes/preview v. Western Bulldogs

Schache has to go. Wouldn't mind going smaller/agile up forward and not replacing Schache with a tall. Fritsch and van Rooyen as our key forwards (switching with Gawn occasionally for a rest). Out: Bowey (inj), Schache, Chandler (to sub) In: Woewodin, Pickett, Billings Laurie gets another...

Review Dees v Swans - the Good, bad and Fugly

I always thought the SCG was significantly smaller than the MCG, but I've just read this article comparing all the ground sizes, and while the SCG is currently the smallest ground, as you say it's only by 5m width and 5m length compared to the MCG, which surprised me...

    Training 2024 Preseason Thread

I actually saw this the other way, thought they were pretty good, and Lever played a solid game, as usual he played better with Tomlinson taking the 2nd tall forward. The Carlton talls got a couple of cheap goals that we couldnt do much about anyway, all our defenders seemed to set up well all...

    Training 2024 Preseason Thread

For some reason I'm looking forward to the start of the season. maybe its because there's been higher expectations the last couple of years, and this year expectations are definitely lower, like it'll be more relaxing.... at least until we are 4.11 at half time against sydney

Apart from the editing, three things i took from this were, firstly van Rooyen is looking physically solid, expecting a big year. secondly, Lever kicked a goal lol, and thirdly josh schache is left footed, who knew

    Player Watch #13 Clayton Oliver – UNPRECEDENTED 4 x B&F, 3 x AA, 2 x AFLCA Winner and Premiership Player

Player Watch #27: Marty Hore – officially returning to the Dees

Love how Hunt was involved in three last second victories for us. 2019 Gold Coast game above he first assists the Hore goal , then he breaks open a pack so the ball could be kicked to McDonald. 2022 Carlton game he runs and kicked it long for Pickett to steal it. 2017 West Coast game he...

    List Mgmt. 2023 Draft/Trade/FA thread

yes but jvr was never the sole tall forward any of those times, and also it wasn't happening on a weekly basis. So this is now moving away from the original point. i dont think it's nonsense, i'd be legitimately concerned about jvr being the lone key forward and proving some back up rucking...

not so much about injuries, more how it can tire them out or even throw off their forward game. i actually dont mind the richmond strategy of using a strong (and somewhat dispensable) midfielder for 5 minutes around the ground, sparrow would be my choice (or Viney for the laughs)

Petty the obvious partner with JVR, but im assuming he wont be back until later next year which leaves us really squeezed on the tall forward brigade, anyone know if there are any updates on a possible return date for petty ?
