FTA-TV Having the umpires mic'ed up makes the TV coverage practically unlistenable

The channel 7 overloud whistle volume and the constant umpire yap, along with its inexpert commentary led by BT, are all terrible - that’s why I completely mute the channel 7 sound and have the radio on instead - even though the radio commentary is several seconds ahead.

    Marngrook Footy Show Axed

Soccer Nazi and head of SBS Sport, Craig Foster, has finally had his way. despite it easily being the most popular show on NITV (some might say the only popular show on NITV), Craig has been wanting it axed for quite some time - no doubt because of, not despite, it's popularity.

Just been listening to Kane Cornes. He was surprisingly good. Very good indeed. Wouldn't mind at all if he kept the morning 9 to 12 gig.

    FTA-TV Offsiders

This. Considering the AFLW just got the largest domestic crowd for women's sport ever in Australian sport (and IMO it was a very good game to watch) AND they had last year's premiership coach on as a special guest and so were able to talk in some depth through current issues about the sport...

No - you're still as irresponsible as ever. But it's just possible you may be either blamed or thanked for his sacking.

What can we do to the Daily Telegraph .

... All of this ... and yet he didn't follow footy in his youth ... and at Oxford Uni he was a self avowed marxist and even had a bust of Karl Marx in his dorm room! In any case, having wondered what he thought of the GF, the evidence suggests he may have been most impressed, given the latest...

What can we do to the Daily Telegraph .

Absolutely. I watched the GF at the boutique beer bar in Fed Square. Whoever wasn't wearing Hawk gear there was cheering loudly for the Swans (me included). At least 80% pro Swans. BTW - Kinda releavant or at least of some interest for this thread - Rupert Murdoch attended the AFL GF. This...

What can we do to the Daily Telegraph .

You really don't have a clue. Have you ever actually read the Herald Sun? Do you realise it's company owns the Melbourne Storm? Do you realsie the HUN has more articles about the Storm than any AFL club - even Collingwood? That there are more Storm articles than on North, Bulldogs, Melbourne and...

NRL's $1 billion deal in shatters

You are asking the impossible. Using SoO rules, there are, of course, none, nil, zero, zilch Vic raised NRL players. Same in SA and Tas. There might be 2 or 3 from WA. However, again using SoO rules, there are now 50 NSW raised players (and increase from 31 just 3 years ago) and 45 Qld raised...

NRL's $1 billion deal in shatters

This is nowhere near correct. Australian Football is far, far ahead on all criteria (participation, attendance, membership, revenue etc). The gap is large - very large..

    Point:Counterpoint in Western Sydney

Its amazing the complete contrast between the Melbourne and Sydney media. The Storm and Rebels rugby clubs gets nothing but support from the local media - and a lot of it. Articles like that Gavin Atkins tiatribe simply wouldn't be tolerated here. About time there was a direct reply printed...

Soccer rebranded as football by PC commentators

There could be any number of reasons for you 'feeling stupider' No it hasn't - Association Football (to give it its proper name) was only codified in 1863 - 4 years after the Australian game was codified. Soccer was introduced to Australia some 30 years after our game was codified. You reckon...

Soccer rebranded as football by PC commentators

ManWithNoName cares enough to post. Thaanks for those links. Will make use of them. Interesting that the SMH use 'football' to mean 'soccer' - yet its stablemate in Melbourne, 'The Age' use 'soccer' - even for the Craig Foster ramblings. Who did they apply to? Who has the right to...

    FTA-TV 2012 Ratings

+329 for fox so 1,208 million - not including Tasmania and FTA regionals. Great result for Sydney, given it's a non Swans game, up against live NRL and on a muti-channel to boot..

Soccer rebranded as football by PC commentators

Good post! Agree on both points. I played a lot of junior soccer (more than footy) and followed the game as much. However, since Lowy took over the game as his personal fiefdom (though using taxpayers money), I've been completely turned off by its conceit and arrogance (despite having little...

    Sydney media already ignoring GWS

What?? The HUN give Storm prodigious coverage - out of all proportion to their actual popularity. And why wouldn't they? Afterall, they (literally) own them! Ironically, this is also a major reason why the the good citizens of Melbourne don't give two hoots about them, peferring community...

John Hartigan quits as CEO of News Ltd.

Yes! A massive 'old school NRL rugby supporter, and one of, if not the, main architects of 'Super League'. Nor could he always hide his personal contempt of Australian Football. His attitude explains much of the News Ltd coverage of both codes in Sydney. The deal is with Foxtel (under...

No. Just like I said, there were two banners (as the photo conclusivly proves). The one in front of the other in the pix was the one passed around the crowd. And which one is you in the photo?
