Aliir apparently rolled an ankle at training yesterday and is also under a cloud.

Player Watch Pick #16 (2020, match NGA bid) - Lachie Jones

Keeping the ball in front of him by getting the full width of his body, arms and legs behind it, was a must.

Opinion A response to James Rosewarne (Footyology) on Ken Hinkley

This document needs to be brought up ad nauseum on every available platform this year. The statistics are DAMNING and speak for themselves. There is no defence against this.

Player Watch Pick #18 (2019) - Mitch Georgiades

How good was that third quarter mark over the pack and then set shot finish. His first three weeks have been great.

Player Watch Welcome to Port Adelaide Pick #57 (2023) - Will Lorenz

We need developing mids even if predominantly outside players or distributors. Good to hear he played well.

Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

Time will tell won’t it. If we have no premiership in the next two years and one of Koch or Carr are coaching us in 2026, we’ll know that Warren ultimately couldn’t influence the rest of the board in a way that is best for our club. I’m ALMOST just as worried about Carr coaching us as Ken tbh.

Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

I hope you’re right. It sounded like a lot of acceptance to me that we”have a long way to go to be as good as…..” Collingwood, GWS, Sydney.

Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

Warren’s efforts to explain the performance by deferring to how good Collingwood - and in turn Sydney and GWS are - was very Ken-Koch like. Basically an acceptance that we are mid-table. I don’t think there’s any real internal ambition or knowledge at the club about how to be better than...

Jones, SPP and a few others did the same thing.

Those stats are damning. Wasn’t aware of that.

Player Watch Pick #5 (2018) - Connor Rozee (AFL Captain)

I suspect that’s the truth, but really the only acceptable answer should be to hold a premiership cup, and perform strongly in finals.

Player Watch Pick #5 (2018) - Connor Rozee (AFL Captain)

In what way? What are you predicting will happen in the very near future?

Player Watch Pick #5 (2018) - Connor Rozee (AFL Captain)

I’ve been looking at him for a while. I’m not a fan of how he interviews. His SANFL record as a coach shows a premiership from 5th and not much else. He is supposed to have the keys to a very talented and multi pronged midfield, that has failed to fire in two showdowns, two finals and an ever...

Review Round 6, 2024 vs Collingwood

Jones and Mead are two to add to Evans and McEntee as being perennial not quite up to it or at best bottom 6 calibre players. One positive is Jase Burgoyne. He went missing a bit in the second and third quarters but it speaks a bit about his talent and toughness that he was in our best 5...

Mega Thread Port Forum General AFL Thread Part 27

I think there were similarities between both matches in terms of how we were dominated in the contest and around the midfield. Our opponent last week just couldn’t finish us.

Was there any gloss on our win last week? We ‘re very lucky we’re not currently 3-3.

    Roast Big Game Underperformers

It’s after losses like that one, where our lack of squad depth comes back to haunt us. Other than Sinn and Williams, we have no-one else to bring in.

Player Watch Pick #5 (2018) - Connor Rozee (AFL Captain)

When the opposition gets a run on or is belting us in the middle like they have the past two weeks, we need to mix things up quickly in the centre square and around stoppage to give us a different look. Having Butters and Rozee there at the same time leaves us vulnerable defensively...

How did he go in last year’s finals? Carn, you’ve let Connor off too lightly. If he wants an off-game, make sure it wasn’t this one.

    MVP Votes R6 vs Collingwood

Agree that everyone’s output was suboptimal but JHF did stand out as our one lone fighter. Houston, Burgoyne, Bergman and Georgiades also weren’t disgraced.

Sorry, but Butters was outstanding for one quarter. You can’t possibly give maximum votes to him after what Collingwood’s midfield did to us after QT.

Review Round 6, 2024 vs Collingwood

Dixon playing would have made no meaningful difference. Our mids got massacred. We lost contested ball by 40. We need to figure out why the gap between our mids’ best and worst is so enormous.
