And, having done a bit of martial arts training long ago, the thing that shits me to tears with the fend-off is it is so easy to counter anyway, though it’s so rare to see an AFL player do it.
A player puts out their right arm to fend you off - you just use your left arm to knock their right...
So, have I got this right - we play St Kilda first week of the finals regardless, and if we win or draw today we get a home final, but if we lose, it'll be away?
Any permutations hinging on Carlton Vs Giants? My tiny mind can't think straight this morning.
And (at the risk of sounding like a scratched record, but reality is very important to me), we still haven’t even seen definitive proof that he was wrong.
And as Greg Baum (I think) said in the Nine papers the other day, umpires are going to be calling for a review of every single bloody shot on goal now.
Yep, just hysteria. A pile-on.
For all the talk going back to Aristotle lauding the wisdom of the crowd, there’s just as many times where the crowd gets it wrong.
Juan Antonio Samaranch never said “and the winner is Syd-a-ney”.
Darwin never wrote a book entitled “The Origin of the Species”...
My point exactly. And there is zero official footage definitively showing he was wrong.
The media should be asking the AFL “what footage led you you declared he’d made a mistake?”
But, y’know, The Boys’ Club etc etc. We get far more accountability from our politicians.
I'm starting to see how Trump got elected president of the USA.
People should have to take a driving test to be allowed on the information superhighway.
Thanks.
I agree it looks pretty much like a goal, but it's still footage from in front of the goal post.
To be 100% conclusive we'd need an angle from behind the goalpost so we can see whether or not daylight disappears at any point in the ball's journey down by the post.
There have been two...
OK, good to hear. I don't have Foxtel so can't give an opinion on that footage.
(Ch 7 is running with the fan footage where the ball goes out of the frame at the crucial moment. Yet says it "confirmed beyond all doubt" LOL.)
Not sure what angle you're seeing the goal umpire from. To me, if...
Just the other week I posted pretty damning footage that Campbell's hit against the Giants was there, so I'm not being one-eyed at all.
I'm pretty clear on what I'm seeing.
In all footage I've seen, either the goal post is blocking our view, the image is too blurry, or the ball goes out of...
Can you post an example that shows without a doubt the umpire was wrong?
Interestingly, Post # 819 on the previous page could certainly lead one to believe the ball hit the goalpost.
I don't understand why we were handed a 2 year trading ban for no reason.
Starting to believe the AFL, despite their multi-billion dollar broadcast deals, really is nothing more than an overblown boy's club.
Can you post it please? I’ve seen heaps of footage that shows it looks like it was a goal, but I haven’t seen anything that shows the goal umpire (who was in a near-perfect position, let’s not forget) was wrong. That is the issue here.
If it looks like a goal but the goal umpire says it was a...
